Hitting with shield... ??

hey guys, i made a search on it, i found everything except what i was looking for...

Anyways, i was wondering if it is possible to use the shield to hit or push an enemy? u know, Like Roman Legions who used their shields to push and hit and then used the gladius to stab... probably it can be made this way... press right click and when u are blocking press left click and BANG!!! of course, it wont be fast or anything and if the timing is not right u can get hurt and even knocked to the ground by your opponent...

Yea, I kinda like this idea, it'd take a bit to implement, but probably not too much. It's got historical backing too.

Hmm. I like the idea how it would work by first blocking and then "hitting in block". The same technique could be used for hitting with the pommel (or other "back of the weapon").
Bashing with the shield should be low damage, but it should give you distance or even make the foe fall (like blunt damage in general).

I've fought with viking-esque wooden shields and real swords(blunt of course) and I got hit with a shield many times. But anyone have ideas how this could be implemented?
