Hit sounds replacement question

Historical reenactor with 0 programming/modding knowledge here.
Is changing/adding combat sounds troublesome in any way? Done by expert of course, not me. I'm thinking about recording a pack of realistic, more "chomp-ish" (example below) hit sounds as I have access to various sharp weapons and armor. It could be used as a standard pack for realism/immersion mods.
