Well, since I can't mod and have no idea as to what the limitations of the moddingtools are, I'll just throw this out there: How 'bout a Star Wars mod? We've got the physics for swords and for wookie crossbows.
Just a thought.

Actually I've considered a mod like this before.

If you go with Jedi Knight: The Old Republic you can have the melee weapons be vibro blades(they have an electrical charge that makes it so they aren't cut in half by light sabers). Vibro blades could be spears as well. Also there are plenty of third world species that would use the equipment currently in the game.

The player could start out on as a normal person who then becomes a jedi. The time set could be when the Jedi were one and then the civil war broke out. That would explain the large amount of jedi fighting jedi and lightsabers. This would allow the player to choose from two sides to fight on creating replay value. This would also explain why you don't leave the planet.

Lightsabers could theoretically be two handed weapons, single handed weapons, staffs(double bladed lightsaber) and pole arms. Different lightsaber statistics would be explained by the different crystals used to create them.

As for blocking missile weapons with a lightsaber- someone already tried replacing a shield graphic with a weapon so it appears they are using two weapons at the same time. It worked and the weapon in place of the shield worked exactly as a shield does. So you could provide "special lightsabers" that are really shields with a lightsaber graphic. These "special lightsabers" would be explained as the only lightsabers with the crystal that allows them to block blaster shots.

Creating blasters would follow the same method that they are using to create the guns in the Wild West mod. Throwing weapons would simply have the blade replaced with a laser blade and the haft could be made to look metal with buttons.

You would have a problem explaining horses, but once we can change horses you could probably replace their graphic with speeders, Star Wars creatures, hover craft and the like.

As for cities someone started a Tron mod and I don't know how far they got, but I saw they they radically changed the look of a city.
 
Yeah, but that's really the point lol, they look good.

But then again, i remember reading somewhere that they hired a fencing instructor or something to choreograph the saber duel scenes...
 
Eherm, use the Sith wars settings (era before Old republic) where force is more like magic and there are rare Jedi/Sith that can use flashy force powers, such as lighting, drain(s), etc... Vibroblades, lightsabers (especially ones attach to batteries via wires and ones with exposed crystals), wristshields and weapons that are already in M&B!

In Sith Wars pretty much every force sensitive is either Sith or Jedi and has more room for diversity and less blasters :razz: Also Jedi Knights are knights as the middle age sense, heavy armor, horses (and yes, hover bikes shaped like horses). Accually the entire setting is some fantasy with space faring rather then sci-fi or shortly entire Sith Wars is a watered down Warhammer40k ripoff :razz:
 
hey just a thought, you wouldnt even need to change animations if you were to use a wookie bow caster (big crossbow that shoots bolts charged with electricty) so i think this mod would be quite easy to do for somone with the skill.
 
Why has this not been done yet?!? All it takes is a graphical overhaul and that is the easiest mod to do! Not to sure about some of the hats though, I can't really think of ever seeing a combat hat (helmet) that wasn't on a clone/stormtrooper. But otherwise there are plenty of melee and ranged weapons that wouldn't be hard to replicate. RR_Raptor65 has shown us that guns aren't impossible. I'd love to get involved with a mod even though I have no experience. Anyone thinking of persuing this?
 
Wow. Lots of good ideas already. I specially liked these ideas:

- vibroblades like in KOTOR;

- one handed, two handed and double bladed lightsabers;

- crystals to explain diferent lightsaber stats;

- using a shield with lightsaber graphics to block shots;

- Hover bikes instead of horses (there is a very good map in Jedi Academy where you drive and fight in hover bike in a way that is similar to mounted combat in M&B)

- wookie bow caster! (I love this weapow)

Guys, I think is very possible to make this mod. I cant do graphics or models, but I can do some scripting and scene design.
