High Morale - Soldiers leaving due to low morale

I have high morale but my soldiers are leaving due to low morale.
Don't get how this works.
I do a lot of battles and in my party menu they have 'Excellent' morale.

We have a huge variety of food, and lots of it.

Check the morale of the individual soldier types that are leaving (can see this by simply clicking on them in the party menu). My guess is that you're warring with some faction, but have some of their types of soldiers in your party - this will give them very large penalties to morale and cause them to start deserting. You can see specific morale penalties/bonus' in the Reports screen.

Don't use Huscarls against Nords, Mamlukes against Sarranids, etc...If you go to war with a faction, you'll want to use mercenaries and/or troops from a different faction.

Ah. Thanks. They are all Vaegir knights and my own kingdom is in war with the Vaegirs.

P.S. Urgh. My garrison i made up by about 300 of them...

I don't think they desert from garrisons. I am in the same situation and my garrisons are made of all the vaegir troops I suddenly couldnt use in the field due to the war.

This. Toss 'em in the garrison and take out some other horsemen to smash the Vaegirs. Solved.
