high memory usage

Hi, does anyone else get memory usage of 400,000k - 800,000k when they run the game? I also get long loading times that seem to hang forever rather than be doing anything, but the game runs ok after these crazy long loads. Is this much memory use normal for a game that barely has a quarter of that of data in its folder? I have 896mb ram and tried changing the swap to various sizes, but nothing is helping.

Games and other high-drain applications often allocate a large portion of your system RAM regardless of how much you have. This is normal behaviour and doesn't necessarily indicate you don't have enough RAM. During one of these long delays you should Alt+Tab out of M&B and see if the "virtual memory low" warning is in the system tray (represented by a small yellow road sign with an exclamation mark). Depending on your configuration you may also hear a sound (not unlike the USB unplug sound) when this process is initiated. If the icon is there you should increase the size of your virtual memory page file so Windows doesn't have to delay things to do it itself; the default--1.5 times your physical RAM--is probably fine for M&B since you have a pretty good amount of physical RAM, although setting it a bit higher won't hurt.

If you don't see the tray icon, however, one or more of your other components must be slowing down the loading times (M&B is especially sensitive to system components; a slow system will have very long load times even if comparable games load in half the time). The speed of your CPU, graphics card and RAM can all affect loading. Judging by the amount of RAM it seems you either have an uneven amount of RAM installed or you have an integrated graphics card. Integrated cards are notorious for giving poor performance, and they also hog some of your RAM (in your case you probably have 1 GB installed but the card has taken 128 MB).

While tweaking the page file may help to a degree the real solution will probably come down to upgrading your computer. What needs upgrading will greatly depend on what you already have, but getting a proper graphics card and possibly upgrading the CPU should result in a noticeable performance boost. Installing extra RAM is probably the least important; 1 GB should be fine for M&B, and extra RAM won't help much if the other parts are still slowing things down.

My game runs on vista x64 and sometimes I notice that Mount&blade uses almost around 1 gb of ram.
You could try to disable any program that is not absolutely necessary.
(if you run the game on vista, no matter what version, you surely need more ram than you now have to run a game smoothly)

Ok i have the all options se to enabled and resolution on 1280x1024

OK and i have 1gb ram and 512 Vram of my nvidia 7600 top silent

and i run the game whit memory usage on 562364 k

You have to download rivatuner and set all on max and broke your system XD

no no nothing XD hehe

ctrl alt delet and go to view, update speed and change normal to high and mount&blade.exe process to high
