High level prisoners (named Nobles) are randomly escaping my party

Or until the prisoner is healed above 50~80%? Though I don't know if it interacts with the Medicine skill.
Showing the escape chance with the different modifiers on a tooltip would be a good addition too I think. Too many players think of it as a bug. Personally I didn't even know the escape chance was lower in prison.

Here's what the tooltip would have to say to show how ridiculous the escape chance mechanics are:

  • - x% in a dungeon
  • -y% in a party below 81 members
  • -z% not in player's party or dungeon
When you spell it out like that it clearly shows how convoluted and nonsensical the system is. The entire idea of prisoners just escaping every week or so is insane.

this is stupid, they must fix it for good once and for all. i say for player in dungeon, they should have create the prison and it's playable scene, so whenever you got in dungeon, you had to break from it by playing and planing escape, this is banner lord and must be different than warband, because we wait for a new mount and blade, not the old mechanism again, and for the AI lords, they should define some properties & buy-able customization to player's owned dungeon, so player could make the dungeon almost unbreakable by spending money and play time. another thing for AI prisoners, is the AI must sent requests to player, not just a pop up that the ransom accepted!!! this is a game not a streaming website and we like to play every thing by ourselves. and if player keeps ignoring the offers, then the allies of the imprisoned nobles gather a army larger than before and come to rescue them wherever they are! so player had a simple solution: "accept the offer!". and one more thing: the AI nobles shouldn't be all at field at a time, so whenever some of them got captured, the other half in garrisons come to rescue them in case player rejects their offers. for example nobles could have sons or brothers that whenever they are not around, the sons and brothers are the ruler of their cities and castles and depend on how loyal are they to those AI nobles, they could sent another army to rescue or aid the nobles against player or they can betray them!. and if player manages to beat them all, then that's a benefit of good playing, the difficulty of a game, must depend to good playing, not just a series of stupid limitation of player's hand and controls over the game. at end also if the player beats them all, the cities and castles must not just add to player's owned territories, some of them can stand independent, but as a penalty for losing their leaders, they would be sitting duck now and when you lay siege on them, no one will come to help them!!! and some also can offer pledge to player or other AI leaders!!! now this would be a nice mount and blade... . again this is not warband and we wait for long to see a great difference than WARBAND!!!....

This is a very good proposal! Please, Taleworld-Team do something about this noble prisoner escaping problem. Or at least implement a setting in the option where we can adjust the escape rate.

Two years on and the prisoner escape issue is still incredibly silly. The fact that developers don't fix this (nor maybe give us the option without mods to set the escape parameters) has spoiled this game.
What's the point of early access if nothing gets truly addressed?

You can make them non - escapable with two perk.

It has been adressed. If you're still encountering problems I'd suggest opening a new thread. This just looks silly.

It's not really a problem anymore. You can get mid level perks that make escape first unlikely, and then impossible. Default escape chance was reduced from its release state iirc.

The real problem now is that when lords do escape, they come back with armies too quickly. But I like the current escape rates.

Thanks. I figured out the perks but it seems to require me to carry the prisoners with me all the time instead of puttying them on a dungeon. also agree with comment about escaping and coming back with an army immediately to attack

I still have never seen anyone actually prove that this actually happens (i.e. a specific lord getting captured/escaping and quickly returning with a formidable force). Yes you are likely to encounter 3-4 armies from a kingdom (due to there being so many lords), but these are all made with different lords. Also when a lord is defeated and party destroyed, their clan will create a new party with an available member if they have 4 or more members. This is why you start to see non-combat lords with parties. Personally id rather combat lords get switched out with their non-combat counter parts when they get released so you don't end up with a bunch of ****ty commanders to choose from to lead formations.

I'm always open to evidence but this is one claim I haven't seen enough of to echo it.

You can also take Prison Architect, an early Engineering perk that reduces dungeon escape chance by 25%, and Sweet Talker, a first tier Roguery perk that reduces escape chance from towns by 20%. Also, Riding has a 225 perk that makes prisoners 50% less likely to escape from towns.

The base chance of escape from dungeons that you own is 3.75% per day, so with those three perks you can get the chance of escape extremely low.

Sounds good.

Thanks. I'm grateful for the game tips.
