2 suggestions, and I am new here so I appologize if these are mentioned frequently.

1. There should be a larger penalty for death, perhaps a loss of experience or maybe add some sort of physical condition stat which lowers the more defeats you take intill your character is forced to retire.
(the medical skills could lessen this penalty) In my opinion this would add to replayability as well, you could try to see how high you could get your character intill you finally died. As it is right now you can just run out there attacking much larger enemies then you could ever hope to defeat and still get stronger in the process.

2. Some sort of reputation would be nice, like maybe that group of 35 mountian bandits decides to run from my much smaller party simply because my reputation is so high. You would think that if a person could single handedly wipe out large groups of bandits word would eventually get around.

penalty for death... no.

Reputation..
definitely.

I want the remaining mountain bandits to know that I wiped out half of their population

and be scared of that fact.

It would be nice to have, something like...

If you kill 150 Vaegir knights, the vaegirs will stop attacking you.

or something like that.

Agree with both counts. Such things have indeed been mentioned before, but at not nearly the same frequency as other newbie suggestions.

I'm in favour of having a fully simulated world where your actions do indeed have consequences. There should be various penalties for losing a fight, ranging from being drafted into the enemy army to being sold off as a slave at the salt mine. This fate should be available to you and every other hero. If you are attacked by,say, dark hunters and you lose the fight, you might do the fall unconscious and lie very still thing, and when you wake up you find Marnid not too far away, but discover Borcha has been taken to the salt mines.

so then you travel to salt mines and buy him

if you were capture, you would have to buy your freedom. if drafted, you could sneak off in the night

lol it would be kinda cool to go around with your super equipment, get owned by a dark knight out of luck, and then wake up with nothing but a leather jerkin, a bow, some arrows, and boots (i wanna go out with my boots on) under the command of some crack commander who doesnt know what he's doing. You wouldn't be able to give orders, but you would see orders show up on the side of your screen from time to time. If you didn't follow them, you would get shot by your men
