This game is awesome.  You have finally made the combat system alot of us have been waiting for.  Now...just so you know....If you guys made a fully fledged RPG using this combat system, you would rule the gaming world and all become very rich.  Just a thought...

He's probably referring to the combat system of M&B in the context of a traditional RPG like Gothic, Oblivion etc.

I'd suggest a mod for you, my friend. The M&B vanilla game was always designed to be augmented by skilled modders.

No it wasn't.

...? can people in this thread write a proper post with an explanation or something ?

The modding system was only introduced in .701 I think. Prior to that you had to hack the game files.

and we rely heavily on third party tools still.

I think I'm repeating this a lot, but a lot of people say "Mount and Blade is a mod platform!" No it isn't.. it was designed to be a very good game.. the fact that it's quite moddable is merely a happy cooincidence. The devs certainly didn't create the game with modding in mind, they created it to be a fun game to play.

Exactly.  The combat in oblivion TRIED to be like this but didn't come close.  The physics in this game is completely awesome.  I think a game like Oblivion without the magic and monsters AND with this combat system would rule all.

It was supposed to be an RPG, like many many years ago. Unfortunately, somewhere along the road, someone got lazy and took the easy way out by calling it a sandbox game

Still a good game, just not much difference from 0.751

 Factions? Lords? Commands? Items? Zendar?
Don't forget villages, military campaigns, sieges (along with the fact that it's actually possible for a faction to win a war now due to the fact that cities can be taken), banners, animations, bigger battlefields with better terrain generation, tweaked movement and attack speeds making for more dynamic combat, optimized performance (LODs, for chrissake!) and god knows what else. Not to mention the massive improvement in graphics. I keep the old versions on my disk at all times just so I can go back once in a while to remind myself just how awesome 1.011 is. Anything up to and including .808 is just the bare bones of what M&B is today, and horribly sluggish to boot.
Yeah, okay, there's no story. It's a pity, but then again you'd play through it, what, once or twice before getting bored of it and going back to the sandbox? All things taken into consideration, I'm very glad the devs decided to ditch the story entirely and focus on the other stuff.
