So I got $400 last week for graduation, I wanna build something solely for gaming but I've never built a computer from scratch before. I've put parts together and such but you guys know a LOT more than me about this stuff so I'm gonna be posting here a lot for help. This is just for use for tomorrow.

A laptop. So yeah 400 for everything. I'm drunk expect serious **** bout this on the morrow my good lads.

A laptop.
Cease your dreams about gaming. YOU ARE UNWORTHY!

Jokes aside. 400 would not be enough to make something that would last when the next generation console hits. Expect to spend money upgrading again very soon if 400 dollars is your full budget for a whole desktop.

You want a gaming laptop for 400 USD? Oh wow. That's a bit hard to come by, don't you think? Especially if you want a decent one.

I was looking for some desktops though. This one looks pretty decent for a gaming rig with low price. Though, you could always get better ones.

No, I'm upgradingfrom a laptip. it was a joke. I'm drunk. I'm building a desktop with 400 buckulars. I'll explain whn im in a better atate of minfd

Ah, okay. Well, take a look at the one I've posted when you're sober. It is 550 USD, but pretty good for that price.

Could probably get away with spending $400 if you bought everything used or on sale for a good price, just requires waiting really.

I bought a quad core bundle the other week for $200 that included the cpu, board and ram (basically over $100 off).

So I'm workin on picking out the parts now (I'll post a full list later) and I wanted to know if an ATX power supply would be compatible with an mATX motherboard.

Depends on the case. If you are using an ATX case or bigger, than it would work. If you are using a case designed for mATX it may not work.

I think modern ATX power supplies are supposed to fit in mATX cases, aren't they? I found ATX power supplies in both of the desktops lying around my house.

Depends on case and power supply really.

Two PSUs above are both listed as atx but the corsair one is a little bit longer.
