Recruit
Hello, POP Fans and Developers.
I'm Kitao. Or atleast what my M&B ingame character name is. Currently I have been browsing the Taleworlds forums for quite a while, grabbing mods. Trying them out for a day and leaving they shortly after but this mod in particular. Prophecy's of Pendor really did captivate my gaming hunger.

I started out a simple nobody and slowly I developed my army of recruits all belonging to ( I forget the name, but the blue text and they're king is King Gregory ). I shortly became a mercenary in there army and became a vassal. I took the entire infantry approach with a few archers. This plan  worked incredibly well against the Ferdenar ( Once again, faction misspelled probably. ) They're Valkyries were strong and fast but when they hit the line of my infantry I gave them the charge command. Made short work of them, anyways.

I captured many castles, raised a huge army. But then found myself wanting a specific castle, Wehlir. This was a capital city of Ferdenar and is the closest one to King Gregorys Factions turf, so I decided to capture it. I took it with 70 men and they had 500. ( 42 Knights of Dragons and the rest knights tehe. ) I was so excited about this feat and I was promptly rejected for the ownership of this castle. I rejected his claim! and kept my that castle and a additional castle, ( Alpine Lodge. ) I currently am stumped on what to do. I'm about level 34, 300 WS in Two Handed, having a 325 Garrison in my main castle and a 232 in my off castle. My current army has about 100 soldiers of the top tier of all the given factions. I can destroy army's x5 of mine. So here is my basic question, WHAT TO DO? WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Thank-You.
PS: Sorry about faction names, mah bad.[/]

In fact, MMM´s post was quite approbiate. Sit down and get a cold one. Enjoy your epic battle and look around for real challenges! And as hefty as the Ravenstern Infantry is, their main power are their archers.

And now go and conquer all of Pendor and unite it under the glorious banner of Ravenstern!
Or turn Renegade.

You know, I was hoping for maybe a decent response. I'll still wait for people who don't have a IQ below 45.
Don't be an ass, MMM gave a reasonable response, just because your post is in all red (which frankly irritates me) and orange and green...

As has been said, this is a sandbox game where you can take any path you want, there"s no story line or "correct" path you have to follow. With the size of your armies and the amount of troops you have, I think you're going to have a lot of trouble soon with this particular mod. In PoP finances are critical, good troops are expensive, and the lone wolf approach will be very hard with no cities or fiefs to generate income, loot alone and the small castle taxes aren't going to support your armies. What I would do in your situation is join another faction, cut your expenses, which means smaller armies for you  for quite a while. Work for your faction, take what you can get as a reward for conquering cities and castles, try trading on the side.Watch the trade good prices in the cities, you can make good profits on some and build up your war chest. Then when you've got a firm financial base and a few income generating fiefs you can go the Genghis Khan route, quickly, before cash becomes a problem. Keep troops to a minimum in your army and holdings.

I'm not a particularly good player, fairly new, but I had great fun with this mod and conquered the map. My King gave me only 3 cities,3 nearly worthless castles, and 8 villages, even though I was the one doing all the conquering. No problem, I had plenty to do, and didn't feel screwed by my King. Just like in real life, he had to play politics with all his other Lords and keep them happy, they're too powerful to ignore. Remember that as factions are destroyed, some of their Lords will join your faction and they'll want holdings even though someone else conquered them. In short, don't sweat not getting everything you conquer, it's not economically viable to hold them. You state you can whip much bigger forces, that's what I did, kept my troops and expenses down. You can still conquer everything, have plenty of (more realistic) challenge and lots to do. Much more interesting and thoughtful and strategic than Native as far as I'm concerned. And a lot more fun.

I wouldn't want to keep everything I conquered. It would turn into a nightmare sort of traveling salesman algorithm just to collect my taxes. Although I still feel like I got the sharp end of the sword when the king gives a nice juicy city that I conquered (all by myself) to some other snivelling toady. You can try to stack the deck in your favor though if you can take a guess at the factors in the king's decisions.

yeh running around looking after everything would become a nightmare, is it just the role of a dice kinda chance or if he gives me the last castle/city i won is he less likely to give me the next one

Your ultimate goal is to unite Pendor under a single kingdom (one of the 5 main factions in 1.21). It is supposed to be hell but it will be even more hellish in V2.

I wouldn't want much more than 1 castle either. Villages....different story, and you can still access them without too much of a hassle, nobody is going to besiege them. At least they generate cash and recruits. A bit of upgrading and they have good income, good sources of cheap trade goods in some, better low tier troops.Don't ask for any castles you conquer and the King will out of the goodness of his heart will give you villages to you instead, if he likes you and your renown is decent . As far as cities,it seems the King, if you have good relations with him and good renown, will usually go along with you in the earlier stages of your career before  factions start being entirely eliminated and their some of their land -hungry Lords join your faction along with their demands for holdings. A few of these guys will have fairly high renown and will become competitors for the Marshall position also. I always want the Marshall position, not because of getting any Lords to help me (they're not all that great of help ), but just to get away from being ordered around on very expensive time and morale sapping tasks and bloody idiot useless castle assaults. Not to mention herding 5-8 very expensive cows to feed their useless armies.

You actually SHOW UP for military duty? The other lords never appear for it, so why should you? It's not like anything bad will happen.

Yeah, I'm getting the picture on that one, I'm fairly new to this game, too. I guess I was trying to curry favor with the King, so he'd be more apt to award some of those plum cities.

Yes, that very reason is why I hate the stupid marshalls and routinely slaughter cattle, leaving the bodies to rot where they are. In fact, I occasionally like to festoon myself in dead cattle parts and run about about maniacally laughing, taking on herding jobs just so I can commit more cow genocide. But enough about my personal life...

You must play Dwarf Fortress.

i occasionally take the marshalls ones out of lack of anything else to do early on and normally just ignore them and follow the armys around looking for a fight.
