Hero & Blade thread (Now on MBX)

Nice mod, makes me to remember the original game. Like else have sed the corridors are too narrow, rooms are too small and battles are just slashing and theyre quite hard.

So here are few ideas :

MANUAL (I didn't understand much of this althou I've played the original boardgame. Comprehensive info on quests, eqiupment, game play etc...)
More character classes (all or just dwarf, so you don't need to do magic)
Larger rooms & corridors (its way too dense now)
Altering the battle (its just slashing and running now)
More quests (see below)
More equipment and maybe some spells.
Once you cleared the room no more enemies would spawn in there.
MAP (placed on the wall?)
Perhaps a chance to find stuff in every room, like in the boardgame, through random chance.

If you want to stay true to the original game you might want to change the travelling system, so world map would not be needed. Instead player would be teleported to another dungeon & gathering point

If youre short on ideas read the original game manual!

Hail, master-modder. I've already said that I like your mod very much despite all those "slicing-through-walls", little rooms and other... features.

Now I came here to ask. Not now, just for future. You've made great skeletons.
Now I started to learn how-to-mod, also I don't want to do a lot of little mods to train, I will make the one, step-by step, piece-by-piece.
I want to create Heroes of M&M-related mod, now I call it Heroes of Erathia. For now I've only modded/textured some armors and weapons for erathian units (which are called "Heaven" in heroes 5 although). And I have a lot of ideas and "raw" materials (like models from different games in .3ds which can be edited to create different monsters, I have a nice model of minotaur from neverwinter nights, it should be detalised and better-textured and cut to pieces to create minotaur meshes for M&B).

So I thought why should I soend a-lot-of-time trying to create some "skeleton" model (and because of my current modellers talents it won't be good to be used in final release), when I can ask you.

Can you give me your skeleton meshes for skeletons, ghosts (skull head) and liches of Necropolis? I would be very pleased!
Because I realise that creation of such big mod is almost impossible for me alone, and I want very much to find comrades and brothers-in-arms.

=) Thank you beforehand (=

Thanks tuktuk.  Your suggestion about random treasures is a good one.  I also was planning on making a map, but forgot.
Anywho, me and my older brother have the game and two of the expansion packs.

I used Hero Quest as a model for this mod because like you said, then I don't have to come up with ideas difficultly.

The mod is not going to be Hero Quest to the last detail, that would be foolish.  Hero Quest is a board game not a computer game.  I'm just trying to take elements from both and make something fun.

Deon, can you PM me about that?

-----------

Now I'm working on the next quest which will have larger areas.

Wow, extremely well put together mod, Cartread. Very impressive. Also reminds me of Blade of Darkness.

Thanks Chel.  Never heard of blade of darkness, I'll google that.

Second quest will be something like this ^.

Unfortunately light sources can not move.

A funny thing is that the goblins are so fast that if you stand still, they sometimes run into you and then start running circles around you.

Oh, the spoons are just to find.  There is atleast 1 in every scene.
Sorry to crush your one and only desire, which I assume was to weild a spoon against skeletons.

Actually cartright, you've done a great job...
but one question... what does the scroll of *somthing* do?

The scrolls aren't in the game, because I couldn't get them to work.  There were going to up one skill, such as ironflesh or athletics.  Similar to the potion of strength or the book of exp.

I somehow missed the initial release of this mod, and only heard about it through a discussion over on Star Wars...

This goes beyond the territory of 'incredible' into that of 'hard to completely believe in', if you know what I mean. Cartread, you figured out a *heck* of a lot in what must have been an *extremely* short time -- I'm still struggling with this sort of thing, myself. ... *Looks at mission templates*...

You are *good* at this. (And maybe that mtf_team_fight will solve my own problems...)

The best of it is how accurate an adaptation of HeroQuest this is -- right down to the appropriately-sized and -proportioned orcs and goblins. The problems are that you're stuck with just one character, and it's in realtime -- and I'm sure we all remember how insanely difficult even the first mission is when the player's alone...

I hope to see more of this mod -- including more characters in the party  -- in the future; I'm looking forward to some of the later missions, but I really hope that that stupid stage with the mages' castle and the random-teleportation rooms is a little more sane in this version...

Thank you for your comments and suggestions.  I'm glad you enjoyed it, from someone who's played HQ to another!

Very nice mod
I hope you'll do the same for other missions
But as they said, the rooms need to be bigger though, because MnB's engine does not handle these well.
+ maybe it would be better not to have these small corridors before the room, because the monsters can hack through.

I know i'm seriously late but after downloading this quite a bit ago i just had the time to play it through to the finish and i'd like to say i'm really impressed! The models, textures and details are all excelent and it really creates a nice atmosphere. Like everyone else i'd like to point out how small the hallways were but you kind of got used to if after a while.

Any news on another version?
