To add some context, let me note first that I've noticed that Nords defending on siege seem to rape consistently.

But now to the point. Don't go to a server with a custom maps and complain before the first half of the first round is over. Likewise, don not complain at all if you don't have something helpful to say (eg, "I think the defenders spawn to close to the ladder here"). To you complainers out there; you try and spend 3-4 days worth of time making a map, plus a month of tweaking during play testing  and see if you can make something better.

Basically, if you don't have any constructive criticism (eg NOT "This map ****ing sucks"), then shut up or put your money where your mouth is.

Thank you.

I hate those idiots who say "new map plz" before the first round even finished, there's only 2 rounds FFS. Also yeah, i think people are too eager to dismiss people's work, they don't even care.

I'm guessing something happened on the GK server.....

Nothing big, I'm just sick of people complaining, especially since they aren't saying anything that would help me tweak the map if necessary.

Madoc, welcome to the warband community! Sorry to see it took so long!

Welcome to development Madoc.

If people say your map sucks, it probably has issues. Most people dont want to bother spending the time working to help you out. Unfortunatly you must decipher what exactly sucks about your map. You are gunna have to develop a thicker skin over such things its the life of a developer.

That's right but still ppl can do constructive criticism and not just saying "this sucks".

99% of the time, "it sucks" is all you're going to get, for a MP map.  That, and players like stuff they know- a big part of being good in MP in any FPS-like game is knowing the map.

If you want serious feedback, post the scene file on the Forge, let people who do level design look at it, ask them to be brutal.

Hey Madoc, it's good to see some people adding maps to the game & bettering the community, yours are fun to play on. Definitely sucks when people don't appreciate your work.

I think the biggest problem people have is the size of some of the maps. The size now would be good if you had about 75 - 100 people, but that's rare in siege's I've seen. I hear a lot of people complain about walking distance, and I moderately agree.

People like your maps, but people will complain before they will compliment. Keep up the good work man :)

I personally think that some limitations should be made on polls. I mean the round I can't even buy my equipment till a poll has been made for a new map.

The thing is, these maps have already been on the server for a month and I have multiple times deciphered what was wrong with a map and tweaked things without input. It's not as much the insult to myself as it is the fact that the first half of the first round wasn't even over. I have no doubt they would have been whining about being beaten on a dev-made map. It's not as much a personal thing as it is a server rep and quality of play time thing. Consistent whiners have the innate ability to ruin a good time on any server.

True, I may have to do that; but still, player feedback and observing the flow of gameplay on the map would help more.

Veiled insults Lorn? I thought you were better than that. Such a shame.

Madoc, I'm pretty sure I was playing at the time, and to be fair, that map does have a few issues here and there. I must say I like the concept, but there's a few pieces that leave it a bit unbalanced.

Still no reason for everyone to just start saying "Map sucks. Change."

This thread is useless and a "This map sucks" usualy means that it does suck.

Your post is useless and an opinion based on little to no factual data or observation is most likely to be invalid.

Thanks, I think I know what your talking about and I already have a few teaks in mind...I also need to add a bit more aesthetic stuff too.

Anyways, don't get discouraged and make moar nice maps :). Do you know how one can re-use a map in a private match after downloading it from a server? Because i really loved some maps and would like to explore them more calmly on my own.

If I visit a new map I tend to be all googly-eyed in admiration, to be honest. :P I love new maps. You're absolutely right though, Madoc, it's annoying if they say that but don't say what 'sux' about it, bunch of idiots. Almost as god-damn stupid as munchiepoo's post in this thread.

I wouldn't worry about it. The main problem on siege maps is the defenders have the advantage. Attacking teams need to work together to win, most don't and conclude the map is the problem rather than the fact their entire team is running around like headless chickens or performing the infamous cluster **** manoeuvre up a single ladder. The only real difference with the official maps is they tend to have a single wall and then the flag in an open spot, so a lucky breakthrough by the attackers can carry the round. Or the usual ****wit opening the sally port and letting them in that way, though that tends to happen on any map with a door.

If only the multiplayer game allowed more options when it came to electing a commander, forming squads and issuing orders. Battlefield 2-esque. Battles including sieges would have more cooperation between random pubbers players. Or at least it would allow for it.
