I spent 21000 gold on a Silver Workshop in Ortysia and it didn't change my daily income.
The Town has 86 silver ore, so supply isn't an issue!
I thought, Workshops generate passive income.
Have I been scammed?

It can take some days until they make money, it´s also dependend on the economy, prosperty of the town and some other stuff. Overall workshops mostly are not worth the invest if you don´t want to "babysit" them.

I hope it will start to make money!
I already bought my own wares and sold them for a profit, but i really wanted passive income for a big one time investment, not having to work for it.

Usually they do like 70-150 denars for me without interacting with them. Make sure to not lose the town to the enemy or you gonna have a bad time.

I didn't own the town in the first place.
The whole reason to get passive income was part of my plan to make an army and capture my first town.

If you look at the Other Tab on your Clan screen it will show your workshops. Your workshop has to have over 10,000 Denars before you earn anything.

How do I "babysit" them then?
I need to get my moneys worth!
This were like 21 tournament wins or 42 looter parties of wasted money.

Check also all surrounding cities. If any of them has silversmith, you will never gona earn what you aim for. You need to get rid of competition => buy that other silversmith and change its production. As for me, since they did this change in "economy" Im not bothered with workshops anymore.

I don't know if it just was luck, but I tried to make a caravan, by buying tools from a town where they were cheap and selling them in another town where they were expensive and I made 5000 Gold.
How are caravans more profitable than battles in a battle simulator???

Caravans are down to how long they survive. Some last many years and more than recover their input. Others last a few weeks and lose money.

The way I see it... early on, before I own land, I want my passive incomes to cover the cost of my party. No need to be greedy. It just provides a baseline. Caravans do a better job at this unless you're prepared to put the time in to discover what a town wants - which can be tedious. I don't do this out of need. It's easy to build cash from war. It's more about my preferences.

Once your basic expenses are covered, or close to, the bulk of your profit should come from making dead bodies - even once you're pulling in 10s of thousands from cities, you'll still make more money from the dead.
