Help your faction conquer Calradia as loyal vassal

Have any of you manage to successfully help a faction conquer map ? I have conquered the map as my own kingdom but never as a vassal. It seems much harder actually. I have tried with Vaegirs,Swadia,Nords and Sarranids. Each time result is same. Kingdom expands for a while then falls apart as lords defect and constant war with everyone. You have to singlehandedly defend against overwhelming odds. It's not entirely unwinnable but extremely frustating, As a vassal I expect to be part of a kingdom army not the last survivor soloing the combined might of rest of Calradia !

So have any of you done it ? What was your strategy ?

I pulled it off one but took me like a looooooonnnnnggg time. I made swadia rule all it ain't but its possible.

Most of the time its about key factors of conquering as a vassal since you will do most of the work.

Make sure you have a good source of incoming whether it be enterprises or slave trading.

Focus your army for field battles such as use of heavy cave with a good mix of archers. Because a lot of the time I had to stop enemy kingdom armies single handily. And heavy cave with archers makes you deadlier? than 1000 troops if you play it right.

Don't become marshal since coordinating can become a problem with conflicts with other lords.

Heavy cave in the game is also a good siege force they hold their own. So if you see potential castles with a weak garrison or lord is missing take it.

Don,'t focus on defending every castle or town being siege use the opportunity  to take their own taking 2 castles and loosing one you win the with greater gain. Besides its weakly garrisoned when taken over so you can always get it back

Solve your kingdom disputes among lords as this prevents many conflicts including defection.

I tried doing this for Swadia.  I was somehow permanently marshal, and so we dominated everyone else.  Probably 2/3rds of the map were ours.  But I found that Harlaus was a jerk.  He kept exiling all of my old friends, the original Swadian lords.  It got to the point that my father-in-law and I were on opposite sides.  I stopped playing that save because I couldn't decide whether to keep fighting for the goal of a unifed Calradia, or to rebel.  I have vast amounts of land, money, soldiers, renown, honor, and allies, so I could probably pull off a rebellion pretty easily, but it would take a long time to get the new Swadia into the position of the old one, let alone conquer the map.

Go for it!  Rebel and kick Harlaus' arse as your own master.  You shouldn't have too much trouble recruiting.

I'm doing it for the rhodocks, it's really slow since if you don't constantly do the wife quest where you settle disputes every lord would be exiled

A good way to do it nicely is to start your own kingdom on the opposite side of the kingdom you want to join (Doesn't matter where for Swadia, Harlaus loves the feast, did that even make sense?).  Then work together with that kingdom (forming alliances and such if downloaded mods) and expand from both sides.  Once you think the time is right join them and done.

My main problem right now is finding ways to garrision castles and cities. I can defeat any lord and take any city. Problem is i cant be everywhere. We are at war with 3-4 factions at same time. If i take a city it is retaken again. How to deal with this madness

Max out your popularity in some villages and get a bunch of good trainers in your party.  This'll let you quickly recruit large and good armies, which you can then use as garrisons.

diplomacy let you hire recruiters and patrols, you can use the recruiters to help you and send the patrols to reinforce garrisons even if you are not the marshall

I think the real problem is other factions declare war to "curb power". I remember in early versions this did not happen and it was much easier to conquer the map. Now it is much harder because everyone gangs up on you.

Is there any way to prevent the multi faction alliances from curbstomping your nation the moment you hold more than 4 cities ?

Not to my knowledge, no.  That's when you become marshall and lead your armies to kill every enemy in the field you find until they leave you alone.
