Help with making a logo

Me and some friends are starting this charity as an organization at school, and we need a logo for the head of all the papers. I'm trying to make the earth on top of a lightbulb with sunbeams behind them (don't ask unless you like strange answers). I need people's opinions/help though. Is there too much transparency in this image? And is it better to layer the sunrise image like I did or draw yellow lines for the sunbeams? If anyone has some free time, I would appreciate just making a better version of this. I have the editable image if anyone wants it, but it's in GIMP format. Just pm me if you want it. Here is the pic.

I think it looks nice. However, move the earth a little more to the right.

As for transparency. I think it looks okay as is.

I hate to throw a monkey wrench in your cereal but, I think you might want to remove the GE logo. The only other thing I can think of that you should "fix" is to wrap the LWWDLB FOUNDATION around the bulb a little to make it look more, uh, 3D or something?

I try to mix up my sayings as much as possible. You didn't need to be the brightest tool in the shed to figure that out did you?

It's not so much that I was saying 3D but, make it look like the words are on the bulb instead of in front of it.

How do you do that? This is my first time using GIMP. I suppose I could get rid of the GE logo by smudgeing it many times. Or is there a right way to do it?

I think that's the sun behind the other two layers. I guess the transparency wasn't quite high enough. Or I could remove that part of the layer, but I think that would be too much trouble. No one wants to help me with this?
