Well I am around day 170 in my game and I set up shop in most of the cities. However I found it strange that most cities only net ~150 denars at the highest (usually being dyeworks, tannery or ironworks). In fact I have some 20 or so shops and I only get 4k profit each weak (2.7k being mercenary payment from England). Is this decent profit or not? At this rate I think I ruined the game's economy or something. Also, I had an Ironworks in Magdeburg with 200+ income but after it got captured by the Danish Kingdom I started to get losses of around 500 denars. Can you recommend me on what shops to open or whether or not I ruined the game's economy?

No, you've ruined nothing. It's supposed to be the way that you get a drawback. It's -10% if you open a second enterprise of the same kind, -20% on the third, etc. This amount is substracted from ALL businesses of that kind, so if you've opened for instance 3 bakeries you'll get -30% on the income from all of them. Under camp->mod options you can change "enterprise inefficiency" to childish which will give you less drawback on your enterprises. Moreover, there are places for certain kind of enterprises which are better than others, like iron works and tanneries in the Nordic regions/England, oil presses in Northern Africa, dye works in Mongol cities, breweries in Ilkhanate/Roman Empire, wineries in Sultanat al Mamluk, etc. These are just some possible places for appropriate businesses because you can find the one or the other town in a completely different region which will also yield a good income for a particular enterprise, just travel around and check the towns. I get on average ~6,000 dinar with my enterprises with enterprise inefficiency on childish, and I have 3 of every kind of them. Sometimes I get almost 8,000 sometimes only 5,000, that's because they fluctuacte partially very wild in their income and some might even give a negative income for a period of time but they will recover from that eventually. This was implemented to simulate some kind of demand/offer, an economic system.

Ah I understand now. Thanks for the reply. Well I'll guess I'll change the mod options then to see how it goes. Thanks again

I think I had seen that if the city is under siege or the villages around are raided the income reduces.
But could also be that there just happens two random thins together.
