Help! My spyglass view oval not round

Can anyone tell me why my spyglass view is oval-shaped as opposed to round like in all the videos and images I've been seeing? My game view looks normal in all other respects--nothing looks stretched or anything. In fact, I've been comparing my view of various buildings and maps in the DLC, and it all looks exactly the same, perspective wise, except for the spyglass view, which looks stretched vertically.

My monitor is 4:3 and I'm running the game at the same resolution as my desktop; 1280x1024. But for the record, I tried every other resolution listed and none fix this. It's not a huge deal but it is annoying and looks a little weird. Here's a pic:

The game is optimized for 16:9 aspect ratio, I'm afraid we cannot solve this problem without breaking it for other computers.

Oh, dang. Bummer, but OK, at least I know now. Thanks for the amazingly quick response, Vince! Time for a new (modern) monitor soon, I guess.
