So yeah, I ordered a monitor, but realised that I hadn't put that much thought into it, and I should probably do that. So I cancelled my order; I'm now looking at 2 monitors:

Samsung SM2243SW

Dell ST2210

Both 22", both around £120-30. Glossy black as well, which is a pain, but there you go.

Thoughts? I'm looking for a monitor around 22" (21.5" if you're picky), resolution around 1920x1080, not sure about what contrast ratio is good. Oh, and the price should be no higher than £150, and I'd like to have at least DVI.

Haha. Was it my FB message?

I was just joking btw, since I didn't really think the screen was actually shiny.

I'd get one that size, but my PC can't take any moar Captain!

I'd say the 1st one is best.

I'm looking at getting this monitor for my new computer, anyone have any experience with it?

I have the one down from that, the lead is a bit **** if it doesn't stay exactly in and is never touched.

Oh, the power cord. Well, you crazy Brits have those power outlets from the 1890s, so maybe I won't have that problem.

If a whack you over the head with each, the UK's will hurt more, thus the UK's is better, because you can stop yourself from the invasion of badgers or what ever it is you have in the US (Mexicans isn't it?)

You just said it doesn't stay exactly in.

Whilst I could make many an innuendo out of this line, I get the feeing he means the end of the lead that goes into the monitor, not the end which goes into the socket.

I've found ViewSonic to be an excellent brand.

Acer, not so much. In my opinion, it would be best to stick with Samsung or their competitor ViewSonic for widescreen monitors. I have a 1920x1080 Viewsonic HDMI enabled monitor, and I'm quite pleased with it. It's a couple years old, but it's very vivid. I got it on sale, too. Even off sale, it would probably be within your budget.
