Hi, I got the demo two weeks ago, and I've decided to buy the game after seeing the editor - you can't get bored of a game with an editor!

I've just downloaded IrfanView and I'm trying to modify the weapons dds. I changed a shield I didn't like with Photoshop and I can't find any option in Irfanview to change my JPG into a DDS again. Any ideas? I think I got all the plugins.

Also I'd like to thank you for all those helpful guides and links in the Mods forum.

I searched the forums again and found a link to a Photoshop plugin that did the job. Photoshop folder names seem to be different depending on the language, so I had to move it manually to the proper plugins folder. Some people said it didn't work for them, so I hope this helps.

By the way, this is my first attempt; it's a bit dull and needs some improvement, but I still like it:

Thanks, now I've added a boar:

Isn't it cool? I think I'll change all of them!

Pretty nice stuff. You'll be a pro in no time . I'm not even going to try and do any editing to my game just yet, haven't finished it and it's not time to mess it up :p.

There is a free tool for non photoshop users to convert to dds. Microsoft Direct X Texture Tool (comming with DXSDK).

Probably already been said, but wouldn't a shield randomizer application be handy for NPCs? Just mix up the divisions, charges and other whatnots but apply heraldraic rules to the generator so nothing too goofy happens (at least too often). And of course a player getting to pick his own heraldry and surcoat wearing NPCs adopting it would be pretty sweet.

But I'm dreaming. Very nice work on the boar!

That would be great, but maybe too much effort for just adding a little detail. I've started to think that heraldry just doesn't work in M&B, as now there's 3 or 4 people in every battle with the same shield as me. Also, I don't think that every soldier had a coat of arms on their shield, so "generic" designs like those that are already in the game seem more appropiate.

But anyway I'd like to learn how to add shield meshes to the game, instead of just replacing them, to have more variety, so I'll search the forums again this weekend. Maybe it's not too difficult...
