Help and Advice Please. In a pickle in my campaign

So I'm a lord in the Vaegir realm and I am constantly getting attacked by Swadians.  Sounds normal right?
Well I'm getting attacked by like 6 Lords at a time with the combined man power of like 1000+ soldiers.  The Nords have begun to adopt this strategy too.  I've got an army size of like 120 and I can recruit Lords to follow me, but our army sizes combined still pale in comparison.  What can I do?  Did I piss off too many people? Will returning some of their Lords help me?

Also, will raiding their villages help?  I tend not to like that option because I end up paying for it if I capture their neighboring castle.

P.s The best I could do is kite their armies until nightfall and turn around and try to face them 1 by 1, but it seems not to get in the way of their sieging objectives.
 
Well, You should gather as many lords as you can and try fighting them off, and yeah, check in "Factions" notes to see your faction's status in war, if it says "War is going on for some time and it may end soon" that's a good sign for you, if it says so, try not to walk around too much if you don't want to meet them, the war could end pretty soon, if not, well, you must fight them, try taking one of their castles if possible, that could balance the war and bring it to the end soon...
There are many solutions, this one is just my opinion(theory), I'm not sure if it will work 100%, tho'...
And yeah, one tip: If you are outnumbered in a battle, you can improve your standings in it if you go Options --> Battle size set to minimum...

1000+ enemies doesn't have to be that much of a problem
- Get the tactics skill to weigh numbers actually on the map more to your advantage. Even if it's 1000 vs 300, this can make the battles 60 vs 40, which is usually more than doable
- Unless your battlesizer is set to 1000 or something, you don't have to face all 1000+ in one go. They get about 2 or 3 reinforcement waves, after that you go back to the 'charge the enemy' etc screen. This allows your archers to restock on arrows and any of your soldiers that were wounded but not unconcious (or dead) are restored to full health, first aid skill is applied to you and your companions and horses are revived.

so 400, or even less, of your soldiers can hold off a huge army, as long as the battle advantage isn't skewed to much in their favor. A 'normal' battle size setting can help too. 600 vs 300 is nearly unwinnable unless you only have elite troops on the field, 60 vs 30 is hard, but good troops can help a lot, while 6 vs 3 really depend on skill and luck and if two lucky hits take out two enemies immediately it's suddenly just 4 vs 3.

That does bring up another point. Your units are likely highly elite knights, sharpshooters/marksmen and heavy infantry, while the AI tends to have a mix of troops, with 50% being near useless peasants, militia and similar low tier troops. The heavy units tend to attack first though, which mostly means that if you can hold your ground against the first (few) waves, the rest becomes a slaughterfest.

Go to cities and ask for quests, you'll get a 'make peace' quest at some point, especially if the war isn't going well

And yes, the size of enemy armies is partially depending on the wealth of their cities and villages. Raiding them is a good move especially if you are hard pressed on defence and don't really have the time to conquer the castle or city they belong to and defend that too (actually, cities should be grabbed at every opportunity).
 
Good point about looking for a town mission to end the war.  You may have to get two Lords to agree, one from your own faction and one from the opposing, the latter which may prove difficult.

I tend to run mostly mounted troops, so whittling down armies one at a time is standard fare.  Lure them out and beat 2 or 3 stacks of 100-200 and the rest may just give up on the siege.  If not, the odds will be a lot better.

The latter one isn't that hard. You either have to convince them or make them loose prestige by capturing them. If you give the first one the 7k denars and capture the other lord, you win a 5k denars difference quite easily if your troops are good enough
 
For lower difficulty, just increase tactics a little and you can win.

High diff: You can win here too against odds, but it is much more tricky and requires a lot of luck - so I tend to avoid going in outgunned. What I would normally do is  drop in party size to 40-50, get pathfinding and carry pack horses and keep troops near maxxed out. Then take this fastmoving specialist force to the enemy and harass all small lords relentlessly - Calradian politics will eventually do the rest.

You can even start fake sieges to draw focus from big armies, which will keep them from causing harm to your faction. Then break off and keep at it.
 
I was thinking "huh, difficulty settings? What settings?" untill I realised what they were. I've been playing at normal damage, good ai and fast battles for so long I forgot you could change them
 
because that was not part of the game, period. Mods added it, warband added it, it just wasn't a possibility in native M&B and that is all that can be said about it.
