Can we have helmets with visors that can be lifted up and down.
When open there could be a small armour penalty (eg. -3) and better visibility in first person view. When closed it would offer more protection but visibility would be reduced in rirst person view.
It could open automatically when you soom in and could be opened and closed manually with a toggle button (eg. V).

An example...

Please, I think this would add a lot of atmosphere to the game.

I'd like to see close-face styles of helmet in the game as well, though I'm indifferent on the 'open-close' feature. I'd be okay with the helms always being closed. It wouldn't make much difference to me. I'd just like to see the designs included in the game.

It needs to reduce vision, or not work, from the 3rd person view to make it fair.

I disagree. While balance may be more important in multiplayer, it can seriously distract from the atmosphere and depth of a singleplayer game if it is unbalanced. I used this example before, but i'll use it again anyway. Morrowind's balance was horrid, and really just more of a joke, and IMO it seriously took alot away from the gameplay (i don't think i really need to list the ways it was, they're pretty obvious). It hurt my enjoyment, not to mention adding greatly to the frustration factor. It was still a great game though, despite all its shortcomings. I would really like to see the edges of the helmet in first person, but i don't think it should really reduce your viewable area by a significant or even realistic amount. Increase the FOV a little bit so that with a helmet on you can see almost as much as you can right now. There...balanced.

helmets with openable visors are uber cool.

now ehhm ... problem is why open it anyway ? it would just be annoying and useless with current game.
maybe closed helmets could reduce speed/manaevurability on horseback, but then we'd close/open the helmets like transformers
