It is totally possible to create a new race, differing only in hair meshes. But is it possible to switch races on the fly, I don't know
 
Do you mean gender? Because there is a script to do that, the one he just pointed out.
The gender change doesn't change the face, right?(I haven't used it myself) So that, if you use it to change to a fake gender (with the hair), the players look won't change?
Otherwise you'll need another script to fetch the players' face code.

Edit: Oh, i guess races are faked by using genders.

tested it. it works!
you can change gender in-game :grin:
it even retains the hair choice, and complexions.

i think i'll add this to either the camp or reports menu, where you can choose between either helmet hair or regular hair.
 
Hair swapping, aye, I understand what you're saying. Not sure what the confusion is really.

It's a good idea, and one that we should request for the Warband module system. It'd be the best way of doing hair in hats/helmets.. force the game to select the closest fitting hairstyle.

But yeah, best way for now is to modify hair meshes to fit in all helmets... that's what I've done. The way you're playing with would be good as long as you didn't intend on having multiple races I guess.
