Master Knight
****ing awesome game. I have played about 12 hours and only conquered about a twentieth of the map.

It is a game set in the time of the Ancient Greeks and when Alexander the Greats Dad, Philip ruled. It takes some strategy, infact a lot of strategy at times to get things right. Their is a huge amount of cities/towns or outposts to take, and If you buy it ($20) you can download the gold version, which allows for better gameplay, More campaigns and a sandbox mode. You also get  a better diplomacy mode, improved combat, and a bunch of other things I can't remember.

Since the gold is only in beta, and is an expansion for the game, (Or at least that's what the Dev's said) and have bought and downloaded it, you get it for free when it is released. That saves you another 10 or 20 bucks if you buy it.

It is also an indie game developer, which makes me respect them further.

If you don't like the screenshots or videos, try the demo. I thought that I was gonna hate it because the battles didn't contain thousands of troops but when I played the demo the first time I bought it right after.

Yep, that's all.

The site made me laugh

"Campaign across a continuous satellite-accurate map of ancient Greece"

Even the Steam page is hilariously wonky:

"Chase down and capture routed enemies to create slave games"

Dunno, looks like it's either brilliant or ****e, not sure if I'm willing to punt £14 on it.

Actually It can get you going. If you lose a battle that could be your whole presence in that area gone, you really have to strategies with it, and if you are outnumbered, the combat does become intense, at least for me.

I played the demo a while ago, it was pretty neat but I'm not sure if I'll enjoy it once I get a lot of territory in the game andh ave to deal with a lot more units all at once.

Really all you got to do is station a garrison of a 60 man platoon, Then have cavalry or foot soldiers near by and have auto-pause on when you can see enemies and life becomes a lot easier. I thought it was going to be har too but I have a fair amount of territory and it's all good.

Hm? Captured prisoners can be used as arena entertainment, is what it's saying.

Innit?

That's what I got from it. It also says they can be used for slave labor. Interesting, IMHO.  Downloading now...

Edit: I just started playing the demo. I find the visual art striking and the art for the cut scenes is very to my liking.  However, I'm wondering if I can play as any other city-state later on or in the full game.  :???: Anyone?

Gah, damn my ****ty computer.  From the little bit of the demo I could play, looks pretty good.

Lagged like **** though.

****'s sack McBev, get a new computer. You're looking like a communist here.

If the campaign map really is seamless into RTS, that's pretty nifty.

Well, if you get gold, there is a sandbox mode in which you can play any faction you want with no objectives. It can last you tens maybe even hundreds of hours. Including sparta. Their is only 3 campaigns though, Ionian campaign, Macedonian campaign and one other. All-in-all yes, you can play other factions.
