Orion 说:Are you kidding? The heavy bastard sword has similar damage and reach but with a noticeable increase in speed. In a fight between a two-handed sword and heavy bastard sword, the heavy bastard sword has the advantage.
Seeing as how it's cheaper and in the same line of swords, it doesn't make sense.
Bastard swords for infantry don't make sense at all, really. They're ****ty one-handers and stupidly fast two-handers.
Somehow, I've always found the regular Bastard sword much better.Night Ninja 说:Orion 说:Are you kidding? The heavy bastard sword has similar damage and reach but with a noticeable increase in speed. That used to be true, but now the two handed sword has 97 speed as well. The heavy bastard sword is still excellent, but it needs a small price decrease to remain truly competitive.
Night Ninja 说:It's down to personal preference, I guess. You're trading damage and reach for speed and cost.

Well may be the case but when I'm already one shotting things with my axe I have no reason to use a different weapon(I can even use the thrust to get blunt damage @_@)Pode 说:Meh, they're swords. They do cutting damage. Give me that lovely cheap two/one handed spiky staff thing any day. Blunt does much more damage versus armor plus (in single player) leaves high level prisoners for me to ransom / convert. Sure, 40some cutting damage will do more damage to a farmer in rags, it's not like I need to pump my damage per strike against farmers. Against the high-end armors piercing is ~50% better than cut and blunt is almost 100% better. Hence the UNHOLY power of the heavy warhammer (47B!)
Caveat: this is assuming the damage mechanics and modifiers haven't changed from original M&B
