Anything just not Total War. The most unrealistic and ridiculous combat mechanic in a historical game ever. Cavalry charges in particular.

We need that in singleplayer ASAP, I can't talk about multiplayer but it would be great for singleplayer

Honestly it's a pretty innovative solution to the problem, likely one they needed to develop because spear bracing wasn't working in SP. Also spear bracing in SP would make cav totally useless, at least with hooked spears the cav have a chance to remount (although they likely will be swarmed and killed).

I am all for more realistic cavalry mechanic, but Bannerlord have massive amount of soldiers fighting in the battlefield at the same time. For it not to kill your frame rate, things like AI have to be kept relatively simple and straightforward. Real historical cavalry combat was anything but straightforward.

I would very much prefer to sacrifice scale of the battles for more realistic behavior, meaning better AI, but that's not the way TW went and also not what most casual players would appreciate. Most of them think that cavalry charge is what they saw in the Lord of the Rings films: computer animated horses ruining through spears like an Abrams tank and tossing orcs around like ping pong balls.

AI in Bannerlord is already improved from Warband, which makes me already happy. Before release I was pretty sure that we will get Warband AI with better graphic. I am glad to have been proved wrong. I am also happy they devs keep playing with combat mechanics and if something good will come out of it, I won't complain. But one have to also be aware of the limitations of the way game is set up. I don't want broken mechanic in the game just because it looks cool, or for that matter "realistic".

It is absolutely wonderful for MP though. I'm tired of noob cav charging through infantry knowing their couched lance has an 80% chance of defeating a guy who has to perfectly time his stab.

My thoughts exactly. Personally I'm mainly concerned with captain mode because even small-scale engagements with a truly reactive foe are more compelling than an AI trying to simulate that.

I remember that in Rome 1 even if you managed to attack the phalanx from the flank or rear, they could turn and destroy your horses XD. In Rome 2 it improved, but except with certain glitches, the phalanx could not be used in a more offensive way.
