healing horses

Deus Ex

Sergeant Knight at Arms
quick question, if my spirited courser becomes lame, and I let him heal up in my inventory - will he get back to "spirited" or is he permanently damaged?
or to put it another way, will it's speed heal back to 11 or will it top out at 10 (like a regular courser)??

many thanks!!

Although if a swayback horse is lamed, it will heal to the normal version. Thats how they cure lame horses in real life too, if its getting old and slow, break its leg, and when it recovers it'll be good as new

It will heal as a regular, no-frills courser.

Damn - so I just effectively lost about 1500 gold because the brand new spirited courser I bought was beat up in a battle... hmm going to have to figure out a better way to do that - that really stinks... :x

Thanks for the replies all - although it was not the news I wanted to hear..

that's actually a great way of getting rich in the game :)

Buy swaybacked horses, try horse-bungee-jumping without a rope and there you go (if you have a good wound healing, that is).

Oh dearie, Deus Ex is hard to please... :P

LOL - not really. But when I spend nearly 2000 gold of my hard earned coin to buy a spirited courser, and then to have him immediately get hurt in battle - only to find that he will only heal up to a regular courser - well that pretty much stinks and is not what I was hoping to hear. I see no point in spending that kind of coin now.

Alot of people are rather upset with the new prices. Basically "balanced" and "spirited" weapons/horses cost an insane fortune. My advice is unless you have the money to blow, just get the "heavy" variant.

That rule applies double to chargers. Heavy chargers don't care what gets in their way, they're not stopping.

You could just buy a spirited warhorse or charger (which costs 12000 denars) they still pretty fast, but they have good amour and won't stop when you hit charge someone which make them ideal. I would prefer to use them over any courses.

does wound treatment affect horse healing speed? I thought it was random.

12000 denars...thats eh a bit too much!

Also i find it not sooo bad, at least horses can not die, so you can sell them when they are back at full health and get a bit of money back! ;)

Sorry to break it to you Lu Bu but horses do die in the game. Just like cracked shields get destroyed if abused, lame horses can and will die if knocked down.

i didn't know horses could die!! oh well i'll be extra careful, especially with my spirited charger. Can horses that you have dismounted from be knocked unconcious and become lame and can horses that you have given to marinid and borcha that are knocked out become lame?

Not if you dismount, but horses you give to M&B can be hurt and become lame.

The best way is : use your feet soldier :)
Use range weapon with pack of archer/crossbow units at top of the hill :)

Tis only fair that the horses you give to Marnid and Borcha can become Lame, matches their riders.

The damn riders should have their names changed to Lame Marnid and Lame Borcha ! hehe

I just figured out that if you give lame horses to Marnid or Borcha, they won't heal. They have to be in YOUR inventory.
