At the moment I am carrying a claymore+shield, bow and quiver of arrows. For this most party this works fairly well. I like the bow and arrow for taking out horseback enemies. It's also pretty decent for shooting peoples horses out from under them. It is generally a lot faster then chasing them around for 10 mins. I find a shield to be moderately useful. I generally fight from horseback though so I am starting to questions the overall usefulness. The claymore is a pretty nice weapon for non armored targets but I find the damage lacking when facing armored enemies. Then I looted a glaive yesterday and decided to give it a spin and found it to be a pretty all around useful weapon. The range is insane so it's great for taking out enemies on foot when I am on horseback. Can use it couched to deliver massive damage to armored units that are on foot or on horseback. Swinging on horse back at armored mounted enemies seems to do a LOT more damage then swinging my claymore. Down side is that it is slow as hell but I think the pros more then make up for it.
The issue is that now I don't know how to do the rest of my load out. I could still pack my sword and shield but then I would have to give up my bow which makes me think I'll be spending hours chasing down mounted enemies. I could keep the bow and arrow and ditch the shield and go for a fairly fast 2hander but then I am giving up my shield which while not being useful all the time it has saved my ass on occasion. What do you folks suggest for a weapon load out? What do you personally use?
