Has Freelancer been abandoned?

There are updates to some components that have not been incorporated after years. The configuration for key binding for shield bash for example had a fix two years ago in Floris but this does not appear to be present in Freelancer.  I downloaded version 1.5 from moddb.

Is this still being updated as a standalone mod?

I doubt there'll be any significant future release at this point, however there are four mods which have improved versions of Freelancer as to the standalone version here that remove many of the bugs, these are Floris Mod Pack, Bretynwalda and Warband Enhanced (though this is for 1.143)

Is there any chance that that the last improved version might be released as a stand alone version? I like Warband Enhanced but that has been officially abandoned and 1.143 still uses a lot of old models and the others change quite a bit of content from Native.
