Has anyone found the Ulfberht sword?

I think one of the developers said it would be in, maybe even that Ulfberht himself would be, but I don't know if he was serious.

I haven't found anything looking around
Has anyone?

As far as I know, there is no such thing. I went through the brf files just to check out all the new stuff added to the game, but didnt notice such a sword. (the only thing should be the letters on the blade, right?) so I'd guess there is no ingame sword named such. Nothing a quick retexture mod wouldnt fix tough. Plenty of variation in the norse swords otherwise, alltough I highly doubt its really that accurate historically that the people only used the classic viking style swords.

Sounds like you didn't look hard enough, in the vc_swords.brf there's not one but three ulfberhts, at the bottom.

I do know how to find Ulfberth, but i'm not sure about his sword.  Read below if you don't mind be spoiled

Construct a Refuge and improve it until you get to hire a Smith. Ulfberth will be the swordsmith and you will have the option to make special request to him, but only if you have more than 600 renown. I'm still in 527 myself, so i don't know if he is going to make me a +Ulfberth+ sword yet

Siren song
swing 37
thrust 16

widow maker
swing 35
thrust 20

Bot have 90 and 95 speed and reach, same as Nad.

a spear called Rak IIRC
21
31

88 speed
220 reach

The rest of his items are elite items you can find in normal stores, but are improved to Rich standard, which is the second tier improvement level.

Look on the side of the Nad's blade.  I only even noticed because it is one of the only special swords with a blade that doesn't look dirty as hell.

Done.

Nad is an Ulfberht.
Ulfberht just is the name of the weaponsmith you get at your refuge.

The sword at the
ruins towards the South-West of Ireland
is also an Ulfberht sword, going by the inscription on the blade. It's named
Draganduil
or something like that.

How exactly do you do that? All I ever see is option to repair damaged weapons.

thats it. IIRC you will pay like 20k for first upgrade (balanced weapon) and 20k for last.

First upgrade gives more dmg/speed. Second gives more dmg and removes the spd buff.

Just remember to have your weapon in your hand before talking to the npc.

Cheers

Thanks for the tip, 750 days in game and never figured out that you  need to unsheathe the sword in order for this to work

Tempered Nad is sweet.

I watched this last night,

amazing video showing historians, a modern day blacksmith, weapon specialists and engineers talking about what we know about Ulfberht sword... and..

the blacksmith makes one using ancient techniques and tools (if anyone still wonders why its soo complicate to make a sword, watch this!)

Draguandil is a +VLFBERTH+ sword while Nad (sword you find in the roman ruins) is a +VLFBERT+H sword as you can see at the blade. Nad is a true ulberth because of the + before the H and because the sword is more grey, as a blade made by wootz steel should be

I found it. If you capture a norse lord, you can take equipment from them, the sword being one of the possible items. I've just about finished getting the vikings out of the North of England, I captured a few in a huge battle when I was after a wolf lorica for myself, and after stealing the wolf lorica I noticed the sword is there too. I decided against taking it after seeing the huge relations drop the wolf lorica got me, but after a day or two of consideration and now Northymbre is on the edge of collapse I'm going to go hunt for it, might be a bit better than my nad.

there is in fact an sword named an Ulfberht sword.  I picked one up off a captured noble, it has the letters on the side and does 35 swing damage and 26 thrust damage in the tempered state as opposed to the widow maker ulfberht which does 37 swing and 22 thrust.  I have also found false ulfberht swords.
