Has anyone figured out how to mix armor models?

Pretty much what the title asks. I'm trying to combine the highland shoulder straps with a scarf. Nothing too complex, but I can't seem to find anything on how to bash these two together. I'm guessing we'll need proper modding tools to do so, but maybe someone has figured it out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
