Has anyone cleared one of these?

I am quite scared

Screw that I got the Bannerlord Tweaks mod just so I can bring as many troops as I want to hideouts. I bring 20 men and it's still a bit scary, especially mountain bandit hideouts. Bringing only 8 guys would be almost impossible to clear on one run. I would clear their first camp and just retreat and come back the following night and repeat until they're all dead. :iamamoron:

once got a steppe bandit hideout with 60+ troops soooo... yeah. my preferred strat is going in with lots of range units and keep them on follow. trigger only one set of enemys at a time, they are quite spread out. still, its challenging. (dont forget to pick up quivers on the ground to refill your ammo) on the plus side i got around 500 steppe bandit troop prisoners in my town now

Hah. I've seen Sea Raider Hideouts with 75+ Which is all fine and dandy when you go "Hey they melee" Except that the hideout makes like 15 of them sit together at a table with no way to pull just one.

Realistically though, if you "Retreat" from the hideout after killing a bunch of bandits some of them will die, some will be wounded, and you can just attack again the next night. With them having much lowered numbers from the ones who died last round. And repeat if necessary to lower to an acceptable number to finish.

Note that the loot you get is based off the last run you do. So if the first 2 you kill 15 each, and in the last you only kill 5. The loot table will deem you to only get 5 Bandits worth of loot.

If you're playing with realistic damage, this is a very, very difficult task. You'll enter the scene with less than 10 troops against all these enemies.

My method works for Realistic. I play max Difficulty sliders and have solo'd 30+ hideouts. Mind you it IS a time sink.

I can't even imagine how could I solo a forest bandit hideout while they pepper arrows capable of 2-hit me with sniper precision.

I tend to avoid those, to be fair. I think I've done like 3 Forest Bandit hideouts solo. Archery is your friend, and A/D A/D Strafe while sniping them like you're some annoying FPS player. Definitely more grueling than the other bandits.

Though, If a Town has a Quest "X Needs help with Bandits" this quest will Cause the nearby hideout to empty down to 1 squad. It usually triggers when there are lots of one type of Bandit around + a hideout. So if it says to deal with 2 parties of Forest bandits, the closet Forest bandit hide out will eject its parties (to come hunt you down) presumably so you don't have to wander around the world looking for said Bandit type for days.

It's a cheeky way to lower hide out numbers if you have the army numbers to field battle, as usually its at least 2 quads of 15+ and all the nearby mini parties. Though you can separate them if you try.

No idea why, but my game doesn't work like this. It's kind of random, when I get this quest it ranges from 1 to 4 parties in the hideout.
For forest bandit hideouts, 2 parties is okay, 3 is difficult and 4 is on the verge of impossible for me.
Now for field battles, I can beat as many bandits I would like to.

Perhaps it's just anecdotal evidence on my part then as I haven't looked at code.
That said for me it's always sallied out the entire hide out save for 1 remaining party.

I got a Steepes Hideout with about 50 in it. The first area you try to take out just one, and run back to a bottle neck and you still have 20 swarming a group of 9 no matter how trained and armored your guys are. nope not happening, just stupid to be limited to 9 dudes taking on 50 steepes bandits including their top their raiders.
And I been wiping out Steepes hideouts to farm horses for days before I ran into this one. Usually its like 30 enemies total. okay that's fine, that's like 15 on 9 in the entrance, then 10 on 9 in the cave and 5 at the end, then a boss and 2 escorts to finish. fair tough challenge even using tactics developed after raiding my 20th steepes hideout. but even 25 tier 1 and 2 steepe bandits on 9 troops all at once is stupid.

sea raider is much easier I noticed. I tried a steepes and got my ass handed to me lol

I solo bandits camps of all sizes on realistic. Since you take on bandits in groups, my basic strategy is to take out around 2-3 with my bow and clean up the remainder with my trusty 2H axe.

Forest bandit camps can be difficult in high numbers, but can be solo'd. A shield is a must, because you simply can't strafe arrows like you could in Warband. However I let my boys help these days just to clear them quickly.

You're supposed to be scared. It's supposed to be a challenge, to test your priority companions and/or soldiers (you can order your troops to decide who goes in with you; top get priority, iirc). Using that mod that allows you to bring your entire army in defeats the purpose.

Problem Is only with forest hideout: you can get 10 of them from the start shooting at you. I think player spawn point should be more distant from them.
