Of course, divine lord voldemort could take over the world and call himself the prince of the world or something..... but probably not.

a funny side note about harry potter: at one point, in belgium potter was the word to say gay in a degrading way. dunno if the belgians still call a gay guy potter but I know they did at one time.

also dutch politician balkenende is often called harry potter in the netherlands because he looks so much like him

people thought i looked like harry potter
i had people taunting me for 2 years
then i shaved most of my hair off for the atc
and i just get called shaven potter

How thick do ya reckon the new book will be? They seem to increase by 50% each time...

It's actualy smaller by about 100 pages, but im not one to complain...

oh, I read it in 1 day

lol i got it yesterday.... read the first chapter and got so bored i fell asleep.... ill try again tonite

I just finished it. If you want my advise DONT READ THIS PILE OF CRAP. There are only about three explosions in the entire book and no action at ALL! I think JK Rowling spent most of the three year gap forgetting about it, then slapped it together in the last week. It spends 550 pages talking about their 'tangled lovelives' to quote Snape. I repeat, for your own good, DO NOT READ THIS RUBBISH! (of course, you could just read from p 548 onwards, that is round about where it gets interesting)

Yes, I considered falling asleep during the first 550 pages

Anybody have some guesses on who the title is referring to?

Figured if it wasn't talking about some new character, it might be referring to Hagrid, since he's got giant blood in him

My guesses were just as way off as yours.

re: the betting and odds on who'd be the one to die, in hindsight, it's damn obvoius, but again, beforehand my guesses were way, way off.

IMHO the new one skipped over a lot of things. I wish there was more in Snape's classroom, etc.

Bah!

Got it really cheap and finished reading it the 17th. If everything goes the way they plan at the end of the book, number seven in the series should be something to see...

Travelling around Rowling's version of the world sounds like it would be pretty neat.

I agree, if they go voldemort-hunting then it would be a great change to the 550 pages of this book they spent snogging each other.

snogging

I got a UK edition. Does anyone know if the US version used the word "snogging"? First time I heard it was on the "Cold Feet" television series. I thought it meant a lot more than just "making out" (meaning lots of kissing).

Poor sheltered little child...

On another note, the latest book was alright but only for the last 60 pages, Harry was a paranoid freak for 90% of the book and there was far to much snogging and minor details and not enough actual adventure/killing/spells/whatever. This book was probably the worst of the six so far. Oh and the death at the end was almost unpredictable. But not quite.

One of my relatives thinks it was an elaborate hoax devised between the killer and the victim, but it'd be sort of awkward for the victim to show up again after that over-the-top sendoff they gave him.

Read it a couple days ago, read it in less than 7 hours (I can read really fast when the book is what I call 'light' material.) It wasn't the best, but it wasn't to bad. Lots of unnecessary fluff.

Highlight to view:
It may be that. After all, could the victim really be that wrong about the killer? It'd be good proof for the killer though, if the victim's living remained unknown. And who the heck is 'R.A.B.'??!?!

Crazed Rabbit

I loved it, the book, I mean. It's my favorite so far, mainly because it's the most realistic. Come on, is Harry going to have a huge adventure/mystery every year in Hogwarts? I think it was an accurate view of High School relationships (I'm in High School), so I could realate to it, which made it all the better for me.
