It's probably the first time that no fighting happened in Turkey in 1st of May. So, cheers

Frickin' working 14 hour days without overtime pay... and 1st of May is even Saturday here in Asia.

Frickin' fascist no-labour union policy... )!@#^&*$^&*(!@^$*!

Labor Day? That just sounds like a day where you work.
Besides May 1. is International Laborers Day - so come join us

In the UK the 1st of May is Beltane. We had a nice fire festival in Edinburgh this year. The international workers thing never really took off, but then given Beltane was a fertility festival, which translates to encouragement to have copious amounts of sex and alcohol, it's hardly surprising. Unfortunately it's only in the more rural areas we still get Maypole dancing and similar amusing phallic objects, though even us urban folk try our best to keep the old traditions alive. Quite successfully too, considering the amount of moaning that was coming from the graveyard on Saturday night.

Where is this "Internation" I keep hearing about?  None of my maps show it as ever having existed.

Sure that wasn't just zombies?

Here in north Europe the 1st of May is one of the 4 main annual celebrations.

The celebrations are:

Yule-tide the the shortest day of year. That time is spent drinking with family and relatives.

New year is calender-related excuse for celebration. That time is spent drinking and watching fireworks.

Midsummer is the longest day of year. That time is spent drinking and watching bonfires.

May-day is the arrival of Spring. That time is spent drinking just for the sake of getting drunk.
According to tradition, all of these celebrations should include sauna, alcohol, and occasional knife-fights.
