handgannon solid shot

All cannons can use any type of cannonball, but I believe that the Explosion Rounds and Solid Shots are the best for that cannon.

ok thanks i kne that the cannon ammo was all one thing  i just hate the handgannon with Explosion Rounds mortar should have it and hand gannon should have solid shot that makes sense

Why do you hate explosive shot?
The only problem it has currently is the ridiculously low ammo
If they add a bit more ammo and add an extra check to the area calculations it should be perfect

As I've said in a different thread, by far the best ammo is the solid shot, because it has penetrate. It is not uncommon to kill several baddies with a single solid cannon round if you know where to fire at.

Pick a weapon that uses solid shot and you will thin out enemy ranks quite a bit yourself.

P.S: I didn't upgrade to last version because of the strange food 'fix' so I don't know if solid shots still do have penetrate or not.

explosive shot seems like it should be on field cannons not the handgannon ive never head of them using explosive shot grape shot sure i can see how and y they would use it but explosive shot in it that just odd for something that isnt even a one pound cannon

It has instakill not penetrate, all cannons aoe completely ignore armor,in the case of explosive the damage is random 10-55 so some troops can soak it easily(mostly fighters) so you have to launch 2-3 rounds
The only problem explosive has is the ridiculously low ammo or the fact that the ammo doesn't stack

solid shot seems so much better plus exploding shells just feel like field cannon ammo

A well-placed round for a rifle has the same affect as solid shot for most units...
Exploding shells are the only ones that are really worthwhile - and they're only really good for clearing out walls in sieges and taking out a group of enemies before switching to your secondary.

Solid has area of effect of 200 just like rocket arrow compared to explosive that has 375
So its much more then an instakill jezzai
Even if 1,75 extra meters don't look like much its a pretty big difference(but not enough to warrant giving the player only 3 shots!)

adrix, are you absolutely sure that solid shot doesn't have penetrate, because I could have sworn it kills a sizeable row in a shot...

Perhaps my eyes deceive me, but I still think that it is by far the best cannon round available in a mod where cannons are grossly overpowered..

Perhaps you should read it again....slowly....

..and perhaps you shouldn't have missed Manners 101 in college.

I asked if you were absolutely sure of what you wrote. A simple yes or no question, to make sure that there wasn't some other element of damage calculation that made me think that I saw the solid shot penetrating masses.

But of course, if you are the second coming of Christ, by all means, let us all know so that we take what you write as unquestionable facts.

The code doesn't provide for penetration.  It's just an AOE trigger on projectile impact.  So it's basically just a different cannon shot that does more damage but has a lower AOE, in terms of what the code is doing.

I can see how the impression might be that it penetrates, though- shots can and do "skip through" bodies sometimes in this engine, if they're moving fast enough that the projectile's position between one gameframe and the next takes them through a character's hitboxes but doesn't intersect them.

No need for people to argue about it, basically.  You're both right
