Hand Crafted Carbine

I have to say this weapon is very disappointing, I saved up the 27000 needed to have one made.  It is less accurate than the Wiki I read said it was, it's reload rate feels almost half that of the nearest rival I've found outside of the arms smith, and over all, it is actually just worse than some of the none crafted carbines.

Hand Crafted Carbine
Ranged: 90
Accuracy: 78
Speed Rating: 29

Compared to one I purchased for 1/3rd the price at a market.

Miquelet Carbine
Ranged: 81
Accuracy: 80
Speed Rating: 43

Damage on the Hand Crafted one personally does not make up for it's dramatically slower rate of fire, it still takes two shots to bring down most foes of higher status meaning in short, it is pretty much useless and a trap which has caused me buyer's remorse now.

I took this toy out into a few battles and I realised quickly I was far less effective, it was too low in damage to make up for it's reload rate definitely when on horse back, it's accuracy is worse but only slightly, and it's reload rate is absolutely horrible.  While oddly the weapon is the same size and design as the Miquelet so I see no reason why it should be dramatically slower.  Carbines are shorter, easier to reload, yet it has the speed rating of a full size musket.

All the handcrafted stuff is a waste of money atm, it desperately needs to get rebalanced.  Its far more cost effective to buy Reinforced, Hardened and Good Quality items from the merchants.

Ditch the the handcrafted carbine and give yourself the money back.

I like the Good Miquelet Carbine, great for horse back sniping and has enough accuracy for sieges as well. (edit: with Ingri in party only costs 9900)

The hand-crafted European Musket is nearly a sniper, so I find that one worth it. And the two double-barreled items if you like guerrilla tactics.

A lot of the swords are completely useless though.

I refuse to buy a double barrel.  Does not look right, looking right is more important than what weapon is the best.  I fight on horse back a lot, so I need a carbine, i'm wearing a zupon.. zubon?  Some Cossack thing, very pretty gold trim only 11 defense on the torso though.  Oh.. obsession with fashion.

Obvious, I can not take damage at all, but I see no reason since a good lance blow and musket hit is enough to take me down anyways right now so style wins over practical armor.

Agreed.  Custom weaponry should be much, much cheaper than it is currently.

I only use pistols if any guns at all, since I only really use guns to shoot into the air after I've won a battle as a sort of victory thing, so I don't even carry ammo for it.

Anyways, my guess is that the damage is supposed to make everything up, but it clearly doesn't... I'd just go with one of the above mentioned weapons. I wonder why the wiki got the stats wrong though... maybe it was before some update that nerfed them.

As Mister Ninja stated, the European Musket is pretty accurate. It's pretty satisfying to bring down Hussars from across the map with it.

Both dutch pistols (single- and double barrel), and both the muskets are worth the cash, the rest really isn't, and hasn't been at any point.

Armour is much the same, though finding hiqh-quality (reinforced/lordly) armour might actually take you longer and cost as much, if not more, than having a custom order made, so it's not quite as much of a waste...

I keep finding Reinforced Black Armor +66, +34 for 68,400.  Its cheaper than the handcrafted armor but I dont know how it compares as I wont waste the money at the armor smith.  That armor set shows up in all my campaigns, sadly I dont use Sweden so I never buy it (I stick to the gear of faction I'm fighting for).

Haha I thought I was the only one... The battle doesnt end until I do my victory shot in the air lol. Ill even take the time to reload the gun...

It adds a surprising amount of satisfaction =w= Sometimes I'll even go running around the field looking for bullets to do it once the battles done.

Dont waste your money on the Handcrafted Damascus Steel Saber

32 Damage 93 Speed and 90 Reach for 25,000 vs. Balanced Saber 27 Damage 100 speed 95 reach for less than 2000.

My first and last handcrafted purchase...

Sabers the broad swords are so much nicer, far better reach, more damage and the ability to thrust, epic for hit and run on a horse.  I would not expect even a hand made saber being that good in general.

*laughs* Anyone know how good the Good Miquelet Carbine is?  I've seen only Bent ones and it has more accuracy sand the same range attack as the normal one.

I think the only plus of hand crafted is that you "Know" you can get it anywhere at any time if you have the cash, Unlike normally you have to go search from town to town and still not find what you're looking for. hehe

I use the Good Miquelet Carbine in every campaign, the one I have is 83 ranged 81 accuracy and 44 reload.  It's the only thing I buy early game.

I prefer the faster weapons, Balance Tartar Saber is 108.  With a slow melee weapon I get wrecked in the 6v1 ambushes.  When I have some range between me and them its not too bad, but when they start right next to me, I'm screwed.

The dutch pistol is the better carbine in my experience - comparable dmg and acc (81p/82), but 63 speed, and the worse ballistics/damage at range hardly matter - if it's unarmoured, it still drops in one shot, if it isn't, it'll take two with the carbine as well.

Until I can afford one, I just go with one of the good pistols, preferably cracked for a ~33% price reduction and a -5dmg that I'm not really going to feel, because I'll still be at 67p/75/59s...
Being able to fire significantly faster than the enemy can be a real life-saver in those bandit attacks at night as well, particularly in places like Moscow, where you have virtually no cover available and must rely on killing them as quickly as possible.

But a Pistol is a pistol.  it is not the same as a carbine... a carbine is a cavalry specific weapon, made for mounted infantry as I like to call them.  They are mounted Infantry.  Given a shorter musket so they can still use it when mounted, but yet still good enough to use when not mounted.    I like to role play my character so using a pistol when I want to be more like a dragoon.  That will not do. hehe

Dragoons are not the run a circle style cavalry they are on Fire & Sword, they were more for the use of moving forward of an army taking specific ground before foot infantry could and holding it or guarding/protecting supply trains and scouting.  With the added function to being able to perform like light cavalry with saber/sword in battles, and or also actually line infantry.    Dragoons and other Mounted Infantry units were some of the most multi role soldiers in the world.  They remind all the way into the 1800s until cavalry in General just started to dispear.

If it was not for Mounted Infantry, the Union Army might not of won the battle of Gettysburg, doing a textbook engagement to stall the advance of the Army of Northern Virgina, and no they did not do it on horse back, they fought like infantry.  XD

Don't get so defensive, I'm not presuming to try to telly ou how to RP your games, or how to interpret and present your understanding of history, I was just stating my own gameplay preferences, based mostly on perceived effectiveness.

And while the high-end Miquelet carbines are far from bad, and I'm fond of them as beautiful and very well-proportioned longarms, they're not my first choice for myself, and at 9k+, rather pricey for a fashion accessoire, now that the economy has hit a rough spot...

My companions might actually get them if I use them to fight on horseback (currently trying to build a party for that), so far, the only carbines they've seen are matchlock carbines, as those are very cheap and effective firearms for the early phase of the game (and range is more of a factor with the AI, as they won't pistol-snipe even if they can reliably hit and kill their mark).
