now i dont think its a bad idea since there are star wars mods and people seem to be happy with mods based  elder scroll  ideas. so why not halo since it seems that a number of halo mods have been made for unreal tourmeant and star wars battlefront and a few space sims. also automatic fire is now possible to implmeant now and the unit trees for the UNSC and coveant are already done.

so im going to put foward some ideas and see what comes out of them.


The Story

the best time frame for a mod based on halo for m&b would be the UNSCs attempt to defend  harvest from the coveant with the player either taking the role as a UNSC sqaud leader or a coveant sqaud leader, trying to defend or destory harvest (glace it).



Game Play

the mod wouldnt nessciary need vechials since if you have played the game series or read the books you will know that not every battle has a scorpian or a ghost involved. troop combat wouldnt be hard to do and would probbaly very simmlar to other sci-fi mods already out for m&b.

The Skeltons


Humans wouldnt need a new skelton and you could probbaly get away with a spartan not being 7ft tall. elites and brutes could probbaly be human size (of course they are actully slightly taller but never mind), jackels would be human size even if they are slightly smaller, Grunts would need a new skelton but that could easly be done when the new module system comes out,  the hunter  would be  of course pretty hard or impossible to do so probbaly wouldnt need putting into the mod.


Combat

combat would rather oviously be based around guns and grenades, but of course melee wepons could be included like the power sword and brute hammer and most likely the unsc has a type of combat knife.


armour and items


of course there would have to be all new armour but there wouldnt be stacks to do since the UNSC for example would only really need to have 3 sets of armour made but sevrial re-textures. there would also really need to be 8 guns made for the UNSC and one grenade type.



Factions


should be pretty ovoiuse but for the people who arent a fan or havent played the halo series here it is.

i would love to do a halo mod but beacuse of gsces coursework revsion i dont have time any more to do coding, until ive finshed my gsces. im only on right now beacuse im of sick bloody little year 7 and there germs. anyway i gueass with my other mod and my gsces i couldnt take an active role, but i though this topic might make a few people start on a halo mod.
 
but i suppose i could get the team all the info they need and conceapt art since that would be quick and easy to do. so what do people think about an halo mod?
 
The reason why the Star Wars mod was successful is because many of the battles play out like a medieval one- Ranged units hang back and fire, Jedi run up and slash at people. Also, many like the idea of fighting for control of the Galaxy.

The Elder scrolls has a similar combat system and would really just be a change of universe. Halo, however, is based off on its quick combat and modern tactics; running up, taking cover- This is extremely hard to implement.

That game is really bad, lol.

I really wouldn't base the backbone of your mod off of that.
 
its not a bad game. did you even watch the bit in question a did say all the trialler did i?
 
i know that. it was an idea but it would be differenbt with bigger battles wouldnt it and it would be non-liner.

Maybe it's just me, but I only play M&B for the medieval aspect. I think most of the people who play do the same. Adding high tech weaponry just makes no sense to me and is a waste of your own time as it probably wont be as popular as other mods.

Just my opinion...
 
so why did loads of people play the star wars mod and the battle star galatica game with space combat in it?
 
Yeh, we watched it. Just because the make a standard "put the infantry in a line and fire" type game to appeal to 12 year olds and to make up for a bad game engine doesn't mean its right. Besides, Halo relies on massive explosions and particle effects; not the stagnant*, fixed gameplay of M&B.


*Compared to other games.

Not many people did play the BSG game.
 
Hmm, I don't think that this mod will be better than Halo on the Xbox, But I would try it I guess. Some problems you might encounter:

Different sizes; If individual skeletons are possible and efficient already, or will be later on, is a much discussed subject)
Engine; Take that huge blue monster for example, It's vulnerable in the back. How would you re-implant such in the M&B engine)
Automated Guns; Allot of weapons are automatic. Is this possible in M&B already?

You mean yours and Hokie's.

I think this mod can be successful if you focus on the dire straits that the UNSC is in, and not so much on the *flash flash epic win multikill* aspect of Halo. It has a pretty good storyline.

If he's modelling the Halo game; yes. If he's modelling the Halo universe; maybe not.

I'll tell you this right now. When the module system is released the most played mod in my opinion will be the Realism Mod or The Last Days.

Yes your mod will be "Played" if you decide to make it. Hell, I'll even probably give it a try. I like eating apples every so often, but I don't eat them every day, If you catch my drift...
