Omgaw I can't believe I forgot about this, I had so much fun with it!

Anyway went back and had a little more fun after a few years... user created content driven game ftw.

You can dl the actual 'ce' which is the halo multiplayer and you need the serial key for halo. Don't need the original game installed or anything.

You don't seem to understand. This was Halo: CUSTOM Edition. All the maps were made by the fans. It was ****ing sweet. Coldsnap was the best one, though. It had crazy giant robots, a nuke-launching arachnid mech, gauss hogs in the Halo 1 engine somehow, real jet fighters that behaved like actual jets instead of re-textured banshees, and flyable Pelicans and Longswords. LONGSWORDS.

Oh, and on the Hugeass map you could pilot this little guy

Not to mention, skydiving at night, which was awesome for some unknown reason. And some maps, even had AI factions duking it out *nerdgasm* The point I'm trying to get across was that this game wasn't restricted to the limits Bungie placed on it. You could do whatever you could make, and it was all the better for it.

This, plus the first halo was actually good.

The custom edition is just epic, its like having a total conversion but only having to download a 40mb map everytime.

So you can move through the mods pretty seemlessly and have a different experience on each server!

I need to go and find the tachicoma on the HUgeass map though :O I didn't know that!!

I don't know why people liked the first Halo game so much. The single player suffered from the same faults as the third game: Too much flood. I actually LIKED Halo 2's single player for the soul reason that it didn't have a ridiculous amount of flood.

Not really its just a load of custom content generated by the community in the form of modded maps, which range from the edition of vehicles to complete re-do's like the zelda map and the sonic map. There a re some single/co-op maps people have made too... along with the actual halo singleplayer remade.

I can only really explain it as micro hyper modding as the files are small and things can change drammatically map to map, think of garrys mod, except its a bit more functinal.

Sounds too random and chaotic for my tastes. Besides, while the vanilla content is acceptable, some of the custom content is lacking in the models and textures department.

And what's bad about that? Seriously, PC gamers are more rabid about Halo than PS3 gamers, and those guys are kind of insane. And yet some of you actually worship Half-Life 2.

I never said it couldn't be fun with custom maps and friends.

Still isn't a very great game.

Half Life 2 is a great game but that doesn't mean it couldn't use some improvements.

A good group can make even the lousiest of games (IE RuneScape) bearable. For a time anyways.
