Hey guys, Clearly here. I found this brand-spankin new game made by SOE. It's gonna be a F2P MMOFPS Zombie Survival game on the same engine as Planetside 2 (Forgelight). Basically think DayZ with more indepth crafting, a map resembling parts of the United States and hundreds (Maybe thousands?) of players fighting for survival at once.

Known features:

Gameplay

First Person or Third Person shooter
Zombie Survival
Night is dark and full of terrors
Player versus Player at it's core.
More than just zombies in the world
Base Building, Town building, Fortress creation
Can burn down things others build.
Lots of crafting. Probably the biggest thing about the game.
Vehicles are already in. Possibility of aircraft in the future.
Based off the United States.
If you die, you lose your gear. It stays on your corpse.
"No skills or levels".
"Thousands of players". I'm willing to bet this will be larger, playercount wise, than planetside 2.
There will be Hunting.
Horses will be a mode of transportation
Camping was added recently
Pets are being considered

Tech Details

PC first, PS4 later. "Well, we are Sony" when asked about the PS4 version.
"If you can run Planetside 2, you can run H1Z1 better".
"Orders of magnitude larger than Planetside 2".
Based of Planetside 2. Shares no tech with Everquest Next (so no Voxels).
Built in voice chat options.

Monetization
Free to play
Part of the All-Access subscription that SOE is launching this month. $15/mo for premium sub in all SOE games.
"you seriously don't need to spend a dime. We're still figuring out the monetization but we will telegraph our plans early and let people comment and we'll listen if they don't like something and come to a place where people feel good about it."
Early Access ($20ish, on steam) in 4-6 weeks

So what do you guys think?
Personally, as a Planetside 2 CB veteran I have faith in SOE keeping this game non-Pay to win. It seems like a good concept, but then again all Survival MMOs do. But they're going to try and take the scale of Planetside and combine it with the feel of DayZ, so let's see what happens!

That's what I thought myself. It's just a huge market: zombie games + survival. They're trying their luck at it, and we'll see how it goes. This can either end up being just another zombie survival game, or it can be THE zombie survival game. We'll have to wait and see how this production turns out. I'm not keeping my fingers crossed though.

So it's basically a DayZ mod for Planetside 2? Quite aside from the fact that I'm completely fed up with ****ing zombie games already, does anyone else think this is going to be a spectacular train wreck? I mean, all these zombie survival FPSs are broken pieces of ****, every single one of them, and SOE have clearly demonstrated with PS2 that they can't make a decent basic FPS to start with. So a ****ty FPS hastily converted to cash in on a fad genre that is itself defined by general ****tiness? How could this possibly go wrong?

Well when you add in FSE's track record you get some extra reasons why it could go wrong.

Here's an interview with pre-alpha game footage.

FSE isn't all that bad, they just didn't listen to the community and ruined NW in some pretty big ways. /endsarcasm

I think that SOE will be able to make at the least a finished, not perpetually-alpha game. It's definitely not an indie developer who will never be able to finish its design. Rather it's a test of if their design is good.

Yet another reason to get Dangerous Rays. This is quite clearly a desperate cash in to try and capitalize on the zombie survival fad, and what makes it worse is they don't even try to make it original, it's obviously a mashup of your generic MMO, Dayz and Planetside 2.

The only people i can see actually playing this are the ones who enjoy being a **** in dayz but don't like the control setup or the graphics, or those who enjoy Planetside 2 and have fantasies of having zombies in the game.

Dammit Petchie, don't post **** on TW without my sayso! :P

I can understand the ambivalence towards the idea, but SOE did make PS2, which in my opinion IS actually a solid FPS.

We need to wait and see, I've got a bit of faith in the lads. Besides, if this is done right it could be the best F2P game on the market.

I highly doubt that, especially if the community does what most people do in dayz (be a **** and kill a noob for a can of beans). Sure the graphics would be pretty and controls simple and fluid, but unless people actually band together and forms little communities, i can see a lot of people not playing this.

I don't see how zombies could be a challenge in PS2. Now, if you send against me an insanse huge army of Zerg...
Mobile artillery? HE Prowler with Lockdown
Ghost infantry? Infiltrator
Goliath? MAX with a few changes
Wraith aircraft? The Flash already has that, so it would be easy.
The only thing we lack are flamethrowers and engineers being able to build walls and we have the Terrans  Then copy aliens from Natural Selection and we are half way to Starcraft Online, the FPS
