I thought a good idea for future updates would be different rifles, pistols, grenades, and different troops trees that have troops that have certain guns. Just something to think about for the future.

I've had a hankering for a few guns..

I like my lance, so I often carry Sword+Shield+Lance+Nothing..
..saves on weight,

But I might like the idea of a one shot (or 3/5/6? Shot (not 4!..?), slow reload) Pistol.
I haven't used the native pistol before so i don't know what it's like tho..
....Maybe Ammo included? ... Maybe Disposable?

A Blunderbus and Arquebus would be interesting too
Maybe only available to particular top tier troops and PC/NPCs?

Definitely slow reload, low ammo tho..?

V0lum3D 'One word: No' - Can't help but empathise with a purist tho ... !

I'm new i can not help it.

But i like the old style game.
And the name of the game is mount and blade not mount and blade and gun.
I know there is one weapon in the game but i have never find it so i don't know.
And i think it's not fair if a faction or a troop have guns
i think it's to strong even with slow reloading and i think people will become crazy and going to cry about the slow reload.

Just my opinion.

Srry for my english.
English bad is.

For now guns are not planned.

One reason is that the focus of the mod pack is to enhance native gameplay.
It is certainly correct that we add new things to the game, but it all circles the original idea of calradia.

The pistol in Native isn't that great.
Following is the qualities of the overrated flintlock pistol:

Weight: 1.5
Accuracy: 65
Speed (reload): 38 (slowest in the game)
Damage: 45
firing speed: 160 (fastest in the game)
ammo (per reload): 1 (same as crossbows, bows are 0, meaning no "extra" reloading action)

Cartridge: +1 damage (50/50) and weight 2.25

Basically it is an little enhance version of crossbows, with slowest reloading speed, damage equivalent to a light crossbow (dam:44), weight of a pratice bow, and extremely fast firing speed. (even the imperial bow is only 98, and third down the list will be siege crossbow on 70)

Yes, this weapon is balanced already and design to fit in the game, but is set to be hidden that only appear in cheat menu.
I was dissapionted when I play with it, because it doesn't really feel like you are holding a gun, and the damage aren't that surprising after all.

Still, I agree with V0lum3d, I will like this mod to stay as MB style and not turning into a "MBG" style mod.
I have to admit: I do like the taste of shooting when I change the damage and the speed up high, but I don't aways want to play a cheat game, just ocassionally; and adding guns to this great mod will be too much to have different flavor for the game.

P.S. you can always serach "pistol" in item_kinds1.txt to find/change the coding of it.
P.S.S. Hey...my first post and take part in my favourite mod's discussion.

There are many mods with guns, please either keep guns out of this great mod or at least include option to disable them.

Alternately make a new version of the MOD with the time set to 1550 or something like that.
Then we have a medieval and a Renaissance mod.
And units like the Highlanders, would fit perfect in both MOD versions.

But of cause, lot of work.
And also if the creators of this MOD dont like 1500-1600 century Caladria,... then nothing more to debay

I wish that someone would make an early firearm for this game other than Musket types, the hand cannon was in use for nearly two hundred years before the Musket came along.

The hand cannon would be short, have terrible accuracy over 20 yards, it (Probably) could be reloaded faster than a musket thanks to it much shorter barrel BUT due to its "Fuse and match" action it would not shoot as soon as you clicked the mouse (a random delay anywhere from two to seven seconds before it shoots) so you basically would point the thing over at yonder enemies, light the fuse, keep pointing it at enemies, shoot and maybe hit something near an enemy (or maybe even actually hit the guy standing twenty feet to the left of the one you were actually aiming at) , drop it and draw sword and buckler for melee or grab it with both hands and use as club.

In sieges they would be more handy though.

I'm completely no-no towards any rifles and pistols. However, the handcannon idea sounds nice. Maybe even fire rockets for Khergits?

Oh, and in this case fireworks too. You know, new year is close.

Could be included as a newyear easter egg.
No seriously, khergits and rockets sounds good to me. Like being a counterpart towards the more "western" hand cannon, horribly inaccurate but deadly.

I'm just saying that if Floris is ever going to include firearms, they better not be muskets or any other post-medieval crap. I can live with some primitive gunpowder weapons, however, the idea of any muskets totally removes the pure medieval atmosphere of Calradia, with Feudal knights and such.

Oh, and I don't really like the idea of some peasant able to blow a hole into my expensive armour without skill. Archers are a pain in the ass already.

there defnitly should be muskets and arquebuses, think about it, gothic armour is in the mod, right?
gothic armour was designed to take the impact of, early guns.

well, this seems to be a stalemate. Mabey there shoud be two versions of the mod. One thats strictly original, and another that involves rockets, muskets ect. IF, the people in charge of this mod decide to put guns in in the first place. Its a lot of work im assuming.

I honestly really don't like the idea of having another mod with guns in 'em. They aren't even fun to wield as a weapon, nor effective (when following the lines of "historical" technological advancements like gothic armour). Why would you want to have something which takes a crapload of time to reload, and cannot aim for ****?

One of the uses the hand cannons had (and other early gunpowder weapons for that mather) was the frightning noise they made, more then the actual damage it inflicted. There should be a piece of code which make the morale of an army drop when confronted with gunpowder weapons when firing (though not a morale drop which makes the army rout completely). Then it would be great to have firearms in. Have some Musketeers aiming at the enemy to frighten them, then use some shock troops to assault them and rout them entirely.

I am definetly against adding guns in this mod. Theare are mods whit guns and i don´t like them because of the guns.  There are a lot of shooting games, but very few with swords with out magic.  Introducing guns in warband it just kills the game.

It's an old idea which many players came up with for many many mods, and it's getting kinda cliché. Like adding an invasion wave of some foreign faction.
