The last time I posted this topic, there were approximatly six active people on the forum, I think its time for a retry

What are peoples feelings on gunpowder weapons in the game?
I dont mean M-16's or anything like that, but more of the stuff that was around in the 15th Century, with the odd musket perhaps.
I think most of them were essentialy a sort of shotgun or what was basicaly a hand cannon.
They would be very innacurate, have about the same reload as a crossbow, and perhaps tend towards exploding, but they would do an insane amount of damage if they actually hit, perhaps ignoring (most) armour.
Although perhaps we can hope that Mount and Blade three will be set in the Napoleonic Wars ^_^

The only gunpowder weapons around at the time were simple metal tubes.
Usually an amount of powder was placed at the bottom of the tube, and a rock placed on top of it. A lit match was then inserted into a hole in the bottom of the tube and hopefully the rock was fired out.
Not only were they exceptionally rare, but they were also seen as one shot weapons. Usually they were used as a shock weapon - the accuracy was terrible but the discharge would often spook cavalry horses.
Muskets or anything resembling an actual gun wouldn't be invented for another few hundred years.

Hey, heres a nice short article for you to read:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_powder

In short:
-Gunpowder invented in China ~4th Century
-First firearms used ~11th Century
-Spread to Korea, Middle East and then Europe

Also note:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannon

First known use of a cannon in Europe, 1324, twelve years from 'now'.

Now, does anybody care to discuss this?
*sigh*
Ill be leaving soon, so I wont get a chance to argue with anybody else, drat

The '*sigh*' was in refrence to the next line

Sorry, I didnt look past the first page of discussion in every forum, Im not in the habit of doing so, and a search for 'gunpowder' turns up quite a few threads...

Wow! 69% no vote on firearms in the game. Pretty solid position on this issue if I may say so. Why not implement a sarracen fanction with its inherent weapons and armor instead of firearms? We already have barbarians, western/central europeans, mongols and vikings but no arabs. I'm sure they had some role to play in the middle ages, mainly during a thing called 'the crusades'.

The people resisted the popes will, thats why he killed so many people in order to have them adopt christianity easier. Its kinda the opposite of terrorism.
