Gunfire sounds

Okay I just downloaded the mod, but I have one issue.  The sounds firearms make when you fire is very weak imo, it has no umph to them.
I love the early firearms of late medieval to colonial because of their feel, that thunder cap of a large army opening fire and seconds later your pelted with death.

So my question is, is there anyway the sound can be updated to say, something along the lines of medieval total war 2 sound?  And if not, can anyone teach me how to make sound replacements so I could do it myself without bothering the good dev's of this mod?

EDIT: I read my post and I think it's a little unclear,  I'm not unhappy with the sound itself as much as the volume of it, you can't really hear gunfire from far away, it's completely silent which is unrealistic.

Well, I'm quite good at producing realistic gun sounds.  Although with Flintlocks and such, I can only guess as I've never heard one in person.  I think I did a pretty decent job on my firing sounds, I'll try uploading them for you if you like.  Their are 3 guns sound sets, a dozen or so for the pistols and arquebuse and rifles, one for the Blunderbusses, and one for the Handcannon.

I'm interested.

While new sounds sounds good (No pun intended) would it fix the problem with the silent firearms?  a nice little distant boom is all I'm asking for.

I'll get to it tomorrow then. As for the silent factor, it's a combination of lower volume, mono instead of stereo, the compression used and low attack (this attack refers to how much a sound contrasts from high to low volume, kind of like hitting a piano key hard or lightly tapping it) that make it quieter and duller.  Alas, anything less than .wav compression does a noticeable hit on sound quality.  I changed the sounds.txt to use wavs for my sounds.

The game engine is responsible for sound volume over distance, I haven't noticed quiet gunshots using my sounds, but then I wasn't looking for that.  Although higher initial volume helps, which yes mine are a few decibels louder.

Alright, I have a few ready for you guys.  If D' likes em enough, perhaps I'll make more and he can find the time to give every gun a repitoire of unique sounds, that's what I'd do :D.

PS. - I chose OGG because I couldn't get WAV to compress very well... my mixing program has the most awkward WAV codecs, pisses me off.

Edit: I accidentally included a degraded version of my flintlock pistol in the package and it's too loud which makes it's debasement even more noticeable.
