Hello,

I guess playing as a priest/nun is rare among players. I think it is due to the fact they have no "magical" power here in M&B. Unlike that other classic RPG (cough, DnD, cough), there is appearently no class restrictiions on priest/nun. Any good guide of being one?

I have some role-playing ideas (okay inspirations), priest/nun cannot use edge weapon, including arrows and blots. There is no restriction on armour used. There is no skill limit except this class cannot involve in slave trading.

Your input is welcomed

I created a priest character who's almost level 30 now. I tried to keep it fairly pure, and go for nothing but intelligence/charisma stats, and use 2handed polearms on foot. Its working rather well actually, even if i do only have 6 strength :? In short, let your guys do their share of the fighting. Being a priest is almost like putting the game on a harder setting though. At least the nun gets a great horse to start with, the priest gets...crap.

You know, I think the whole idea here is that you become a warrior/knight no matter what...the "background" classes is just to determine which skills you start out with in the beginning...

My current character is a nun and unless we are talking about different versions ... the nun doesn't get a horse. .623 - .632 versions have been this way.

I tend to agree that the beginning "careers" don't really serve much of a function. Just variations on starting stats and gear. Ultimately most of us will probably, eventually, end up with identical characters or close to. However this gets me thinking about "Paths of Glory" and "Event Engines". I'm editing that ramble out of this post and sticking it into suggestions.

My Nun focused on intelligence/charisma and used a crossbow. With a large highly trained army that rarely lost troops, I actually thought she was easier than some of my other characters.

I also have a priest char who has first aid(7), surgery(7), training(7), wount treatment(7) and tactics(6) almost maxed out. He's not much good on the battlefield, but the party is doing great.

He's level 13 now and staying neutral. He's Only doing merchant missions for income. By the way, the experience isn't bad from merchant missions. His other skills are: prisoner management(2), leadership(3). He can't even ride a horse :D

Tired of seeing my mean killing machine knocked out once again after killing twenty enemies hand to hand, or my archer ending most battles the only man standing, I created a fairly peaceful priest/trader, and before level 5 he was buying a mail hauberk and leading a mixed Vaegir Guards/Swadian Shapshooters unit (fully neutral, of course) to commercial victory. At level 10 his higher combat skill is a 72. He usually kills only one or two foes per battle, or even less, but the 100% infantry is going well.

Charisma, leadership and medical skills certainly make playing as a commander rather than a killer worthwhile. And at least they do not get too far away before obeying commands.
