NC PUNDITS: MATCH PREVIEW

BENE vs. GERMANY

»Three weeks into the tournament and one of the most expected matches from group B has finally arrived! Both BeNe and Germany have won every match they’ve played so far, meaning this confrontation will be decisive for both nations, as it will determine which one of them will achieve the group lead for the knockouts.«

Belgium & Netherlands

One step after another...

Last year’s finalists are back again, and they’re having a very good start this year, coming from two consecutive wins against Yugoslavia and USA, they are now facing their strongest opponent, Germany, which isn’t going to be an easy task. Do not fear though, as BeNe have one of the strongest teams in this tournament, not because of considerable new additions, but because of improvements in level of skill across all three classes. If they were capable of reaching that far in last year’s tournament, you don’t really want to meet BeNe in this year’s edition.
However, if they really want to win against the germans they’ll have to utilize their strongest department to their full potential, the archers. Composed of Leroux, Kane, and Attila, BeNe have a very strong lineup capable of dealing an insane amount of damage, but they’ll have to work really well as a team, as they will face Razer, Rainbow, and Nele, who will all try to punish them as much as they can. BeNe’s main infantries, Dr Doener and Kellerman, will have an incredible amount of work to do during this match, not only having to face a very solid and overall better german infantry squad, but survive long enough for their cavalry to also be able to help. They will be primarily backed up by Ciiges and Watly, a duo capable of wiping out entire squads of enemies within seconds, which if it’s not taken care of, will eventually be a serious issue for the german team.
All in all, if BeNe really want to make a difference in this match, they’ll have to use their already good teamwork and put it to good use, along with their tactics and execution, good communication and team play will be the key to success.

Germany

Bringing back the legend...

The always strong, and NC13 winner, Germany have a very good chance of winning this match as long as they can use their strengths to their full potential, and remain consistent throughout the whole match. Luckily, that’s never been a big issue for Germany, as consistency is one of their strengths.
This year though, they’re missing quite a good number of players from last year’s edition, such as Neathar, Hives, Superlili, Dragz, and Hopkiin, and that’s only to name a few. They have been replaced by very capable people, but this might mean that their teamwork is not as good as it can be, especially since these new players would need to adapt themselves to the team if they want to become key assets for Germany.
Despite possibly not being as strong as last year, it doesn’t mean they can’t put up a good fight and win, especially when they have such a stacked and skilled infantry roster, with people like Scar and Eder, who are a very deadly duo, backed up by Kragen, Ascarion, and Boris, this infantry department could potentially give a lot of trouble to BeNe if their coordination and teamplay is on point. However, if BeNe could have problems just with that, now we get to the danger zone. Nele, Razer, and Rainbow are a deadly archer trio that can pressure any team by putting serious holes in their enemies. If Germany is able to play around them, they could be the difference between victory and defeat. Last but not least, Germany’s weakness, the cavalry. Both Adrian and Firunien are solid cavalry, but they’ll have to do some serious work if they want to challenge BeNe’s cavalry. Nonetheless, if both of them are able to hold off the Dutch cavalry and support their already strong infantry they could severely damage BeNe.

CONCLUSION

Overall, this match should be very intense and close as both teams have very similar skill level, and a first group spot to claim. We’ll have our answer and the results this Sunday at 19:30 GMT!

»As an interesting fact; BeNe and Germany fought during the quarter finals in the NC2016 on one of this week’s maps, Verloren. BeNe had a very one-sided half in this match finishing with a 6-3 lead over Germany. This was mainly due to Germany probably failing to execute their tactics as they intended, and a lack of teamwork around their infantries. Will Germany learn from their last year’s mistakes or will BeNe still dominate?«
