I think there needs a be a few smaller groups of some of the more interesting groups to fight, one of the best examples being dark hunters. I mean is it not realistic that they would send out scouts/foraging groups as well.
Basically using the currect sytem then make partyies than come from 25% to 125% of the current range. This would make the games easier to get into for newer players, and be more realisic. I mean you start as a complete novice..and you are expected to start off killed 4 man groups. I just don't think its that realistic, and would much prefer to just start out fighting groups of say 1 or 2, but have an overall increse in stats.
Basicall instead of the current say 30 brigands you would fight the range would go from say 8-36 with all of them being slighting higher in stats, and being more able to stand up in a 1 vs 1 situation. Not only would the smaller parties help new players, but the raises stats would simulate higher IA, and the larger parties would add more of a challenge to more experienced players in the vanilla game.
This might sound like more of a mod idea, but I think it would actually improve the vanilla game hugely. I honestly just don't see how a river pirite is THAT weak. They have to be the words worst pirites, farmers with pitchforks beat them silly.
