Great opportunity for Crusader-based Faction

The game is supposed to be dynamic, so having a faction based solely on a single invasion against a single faction feels a bit silly and one-dimensional to me.
Well there were crusades in many directions, North against the Baltics/Sturgians; south against Arabs/Aserai, Byzantium/Empire and Turks/Khuzait; and internal against the Cathars/Battanians.

The comparison is not perfect, but it just sounds like Vlandia vs. the world to me. The timetable does conflict with Taleworlds' setting though.

There is still a unique opportunity for TW to turn the Embers of the Flame into a crusader-like MINOR faction. Having Embers of the Flame and Beni Zilal being a direct opposites to one another (secretive, almost ocultist organizations) would be something i would personally enjoy, perhaps even starting the game by being at war only with one another.

Its a minor faction that already exsists, only a 3 unit troop tree would be slighly altered, and their current lore would fit the crusader/monk appearance.
1st crusade being in 11th century, which is just about on the upper margin for Bannerlord`s historical inspiration, gives little room to full-out crusader equipment, full helms and such. Just some monk robes over chain hauberks and spangenhelms with noseguard would suffice. Even though it is the Empire`s minor faction (culturaly different), there are already Eleftheroi that are different, so Embers of the Flame could go similar path.

I thus disagree with the idea of having it as a MAJOR faction, with pop culture "Kingdom of Heaven"-type of crusaders look, and especially not in that part of the map, it could be much better used for some potential african, indian, persian major faction, or other.

The game talk about the fall of roman empire. Around 450. Islam was not a think. And Asarei could see the birth of it. But is way too much early for crusaders.
You can ask for a mod about it, but not in the base game.
Erm, nope. The scenario is set in a medieval setting. Something around 1000+.

I agree. Crusaders are just the thing that Bannerlord lacks right now, along with Vikings, Sengoku-era japanese, and the British empire.
They should of course all be given their real-world historically-accurate names, traits and banners as well, for maximum authenticity.

I like that idea. We only need to be able to join minor factions.

how is there a great opportunity for religious murder cult in a game where there is no religion exactly? and against aserai? since there is no plan for religion stuff, how will you justify launching crusade against aserai? maybe because they are not wearing western looking clothes or what? being eastern without crusader's permission perhaps?

waste of faction spot and time imo, I would rather like to see japan or viking inspired faction or some sort of seafaring faction, since armagan said first dlc might be sea battles vikings makes more sense and fits the time and map has some great opportunities for sea conflicts, especially at that sea which separates center and southern dessert part

No. We have 3 pieces of empire with roman style (so roman or bizantin, 450-800) and not a christian european empire (800 or 1000 for Frank empire). Battania, Vladian and Sturgian are proto european nation, so before 1000. Sturgian look like a proto-Viking (750-1000 for Viking). Definitively not after 1000. Asarei look like Abbasid, but of course before they become a big empire. So 700-800. So with a proto or pre-islam and no crusade against them. No black powder. Mixt of stone and wood castles. No full plate armour but lamellar armour.
The game is a mixture of culture and tech from 500 to 900. Not after 1000. So no crusader and templar.

They could use that empty land for the aserai, some islands that are also in the game between aserai and empire could have some towns and villages too, minor faction? destroyed cities that need rebuild? give to empire? I just hope that potential lands be used, an empty island is heartbreaking , but probably when dlc of ships come ready

And a big no to crusades... they are middle and late middle ages not early..

Well if we have imperials then that sport is perfect for....Carthage.

+1 I'll buy it. That natural bay as a strategic port makes you just as horny as I am, doesn't it? :fruity:

Let's see folks, this is heating up for no reason and without clear knowledge of the cause (Dunning-Kruger effect  ). Clearly the OP is a lad who likes "that archetype" of an oversized Hollywood warrior, with a two-handed sword and a great helmet; not far from the pop culture of the typical Viking or Samurai.

What the hell historical nonsense did you study? This is perhaps the most profoundly stupid comment I have seen in here in 8 years.

Have you not studied the Crusades?

His inflammatory comment aside, the Crusaders were clearly the "bad guys." Any honest study of the Crusades and the situation in both Europe and the Middle East will show that Crusaders = invaders and pillagers. They pillaged Christian Arab populations because they were there for plunder, not God.Even the Pope that started the first Crusade admitted to fabricating atrocities to get it going simply to get Christian kings to stop fighting each other.

And religion should be kept out of the game entirely.

Inappropriate behavior

Response worthy, nope.

I'd highly encourage anyone to not derail further into yet another history discussion.

Guys come on why the need to make this political ? It happened like 700 years ago. With that logic we can't have a viking faction either because they also were invaders (And I'm saying this as a Dane).

That being said I would personally like to see a bunch of independent city states perhaps with a banking system and/or offering mercenaries down there

Speaking of Oda Nobunaga, is there a Samurai armor easter egg in this game too? If now, how about a weeb Japanese faction?
I had created a thread presenting 3 new factions, Greek, Japanese and Carthaginian inspiration , here is the link if you are interested.

for a crusader faction seems unlikely to me because the Templar was an order made up of several countries, it's more like a coalition than a real faction

destroyed cities that need rebuild? give to empire?
Building/rebuilding settlements from the scratch was a thing planned by the devs early on, but later they announced that they had to drop this idea as it was too complicated.

I am sure there will be mod for it though. But would be great to see it in the base game.
