LSP 3D Art Great Helm Add-On v.1.8 (Updated 06.02.10)

Not sure how to install this, can someone quickly explain?

I used the installation thing but then this RGL error occurred.

"get_skeleton_anim failed for brfedit-01"

Does this mean I have to add some of the other things that came in the folder to native module folder?
 
I did a clean install of Mount & Blade and ran the installer. I didn't run into any issues. I'm not sure what would cause that error. If I had to guess, it would be an issue with the version of Mount & Blade you're running (not v.1.011) or another mod you have installed. The module.ini and item_kinds1.txt files are overwritten when you run the installer.

If you're not running the installer, what you need to do is:

1.) Edit the module.ini, adding the following lines:

3.) Place the *.brf and *.dds files in their corresponding folders.
 
I have the animation compilation and some terrain mod installed would they be causing the problem then? If so should I reinstall M&B and try again?
 
I'm not familiar with those, but I imagine they modify the module.ini. What I would do is reinstall the animation mod, not Mount & Blade, then manually update the module.ini for this add-on.

Edit: Looking at the thread for the Animation Compilation, try adding the following line in the module.ini:

I reinstalled it just to see and it works and it does but the weapons for most soldiers are weird. I am getting Rhodok spearman with great axes and Nords with great helmets. This is freaking strange.

That was my first though when a Rhodok spearmean swung an axe at me. Hmmm, I suppose I will just fiddle around with it for a while.

I had no modding knowledge other than how to install someone elses marvelous creation (as per this mod), but I did have the same problem, I didn't notice weapon changes but I did notice great helms.

I started a new char and went roaming for sea raiders, looters etc in Nord. I got jumped by some sea raiders and half of them were wearing this fab helms.  On killing and looting you get the odd one too.

Later on I recruited and went into combat and my own guys were wearing great helms too.

To get rid of it I just replaced the module.ini, res and tex files from a clean install I keep spare for back-up.

I also have other mods running which might cause the conflict, but I have no idea how;
Battlechanger/sizer
GE2.5 and HDR
Lords and realms siege fix (Ladders)

I also installed OSP helms.

I've no idea what might cause low rank troops to get the helm but hopefully the above will help someone figure it out.

Guys, when you are editing item_kinds1.txt, are you making sure you add every new helmet to the bottom of the file? Otherwise you'll screw up the order of the items, which will consequently screw up your savegames. Also, you need to edit the number at the very top of the file that lists how many items there are. For example, if you add 10 helms, just add 10 to the number at the top.

I added to the bottom of the file and increased the number as required, the only thing I didn't put at the bottom was a load resource for a weapon mod
 
OK, im a total noob when it comes to modding M&B, i got experience from modding in Source and did some scripting there. But what i want to do is simply to take a mod (1257 AD to be exact) and add your helmets and other random stuff i can find and i like in different mods, is this even doable? And how do i go about doing it if it is? Im sorry, because this is somewhat OT but i cant seem to find a better spot for it :smile: and with your helmets i can use it as an example ^^
Ive added your helmets manually and it "should" work as far as i can see but i cant seem to find them in-game. Was wondering if there is some sort of file that controls how files spawn and stuff like that.
Help would be apreciated :smile: keep up the work!

At very least, that's how I remember doing it.  Sorry if I've mislead you!

ive gotten the helms in-game now :smile: it DID work the thing i did.. just that they didnt spawn untill a few days later. the problem i have is adding stuff from the Expanded gameplay mod, mostly because it seems to be a mish-mash of like 10 different mods and the items1-file is just a mess to me.. maybe if uve been modifying MnB for a while u understand and make sense of it. any tips of programs and what not to make adding items to the items-file any easier? :smile:

If you're transferring items from one mod to another, you might want to consider using BRF Edit to cut down on the items you don't want. If they divide the *.brf files for the mesh, material and texture into separate files, you can combine these. Another useful tool for editing the item stats is the Item Editor. You can also use the Troop Editor to distribute the new items to troops.

For every item added to the item_kinds1.txt file, you need to increase the item count at the top of the file by one. Be sure to add any new items to the bottom of the file. You must call the *.brf files in the module.ini. Example:

load_module_resource = great_helm
load_module_resource = maciejowski_helm
load_module_resource = maciejowski_helm_old
 
Major issue with these helms is that when you've won a battle and the avatar is celebrating you can see under them, and there's nothing there ...

-edit- Checked the standard great helms and its the same, only the area underneath is blacked out.

Now that you mention that, I wouldn't mind putting the old Great Helm back in-game. You could see directly into the helmet and it utilized the head mesh, as open-face helmets do currently.
