So. Search "graveyard" found 3 Matches in the suggestions-forum. nothing which covered this - be prepared ;)

I hereby suggest:

add a cemetery to every town/area or faction (!).

functions:

  • - counts all the dead in the area who fell in battle.
  • - adds atmosphere
  • - your world-influence increases (if you fight alot in a certain area, graveyard population ++ )
  • - implement the (already suggested) 'fallen hero'-tombstone
  • - *could* be a source of income (raid/tax/wtf, growing with the number of corpses ;) )
  • - *could* become a battleground
  • - *could* become quest object / land to conquer
  • - if belonging to faction/group, you could just visit e.g. the dark knights or swadian cemetery and watch as the number of their fallen grows ^^

doesn't have to be too fat or graphically demanding. still, it would have the following additional

advantages:

  • - tombstones are easy to model
  • - satisfies statistics-nerds (like me.. ya.. i know..)
  • - it's another step towards the kill counter (and easier to implement, i guess)
  • - adds additional hotspots on the map
  • - unites 3 suggestions and melds it into one burning point of sexual M&B-desire

Now, please tell me what you think, be as rude and honest as you like, i will appreciate any useful reply and add good ideas to the post, as usual ;)

hi madras,

this is an interesting idea and in my mind pretty creative. of course im not sure how likely it will be to have ingame, but i think a mod for this is a perfect addition! :D and mine will be chocked full of bandits and swadians.

lol Okin ;) that woulda have this thread getting closed pretty soon, don't you think ;)

but then, on the other hand, i hereby suggest, eating the corpses of your slain enemies to regain full health.

oh, and sacrifice your slaves on a bloody altar.. for.. well.. just for the fun of it.

yes, something like this is a good idea. a killcounter is a must. and a graveyard would be original and atmospheric one.

no fluffy, not in YOUR graveyard.. it's the enemies graveyard that gets more and more stuffed the more successful YOU are ;)

aye,
putting slaves in the food slot was suggested once.
PHAT LOL :D:D:D

this should seriously decrease the mental condition of your men ;)

I'd agree with the graveyard thing, it'd be interesting trying to charge a horse through one, avoiding the tombstones. By the way,has anyone ran through a graveyard at night? No? Well don't it bloody hurts smasing your shinbones off stones. (what can I say I was young and bored)

why not simply do a second page for your character screen, or maybe questlog, where you can see a summary of your adventures, or, let's say, the numbers which summed up during those *G*

something like:
enemies killed (and maybe how much from each sort)
enemies captured
enemies sold into slavery
money earned
money spent

queststuff:
nobelmen captured
damsels rescued
raider parties vanquished
bandit mobs crushed
caravans escorted
etc.

and some numbers to reflect your position as a leader, like:
companions hired
companions raised (how much went from peasant->milita, militia->footman and so on)
companions lost, there should be a summary (and a more detailed one) to honor the dead which died for your more or less noble cause

and then some insane can find a neat algorithm to calculate a score, and take level, marnid's and borcha's level into account, as well as your rank and how much time you have adventured

i would like that stuff more, than a tombstone

This suggestion reminds me of the roguelike games I have. Ah, how I scroll through the many different stats. Why? I haven't worked that one out yet, but the numbers do tell me things....

I don't want to vote until I understand this idea better. What I don't understand are these:

How is a graveyard a source of income? Can you buy one? Sell lemonade and prostitutes there? (We all know the money is in the lemonade)

I'm assuming it's a place you can visit on the world map. So, how is it also a battlefield? Battlefields are random, depending on the terrian you happen to be in (or at least, they will be soon). A graveyard could no more be a battlefield than the Four Ways Inn can be a battlefield. That sounds like two different implementations of the same idea.

I like everything else, though.

=$= Big J Money =$=

well, it could be a battlefield with gravestones. less grass, some paths maybe. flowers everywhere. corpses. flavah.the end. be they random, be they fixed, i don't care actually ;) just flavah.

now, how can they be a source of income? in real life, you are supposed to pay (a lot) for taking care of the grave of your relatives. now, if you would own or loot the graveyard, the idea is: the more corpses, the more money you'd get. but that's not the end of the story.

i don't know if the swadians are a culture who have their dead buried together with their horses or women and children or armor and weapons, but at least the latter would be an additional source.

let's say the manager of the dark knights graveyard is employed by you - you could just tell him to check if he manages to find some fancy black armor and stuff. just pick it up weekly/after every dark knight army slain then. or buy it directly from him. options are endless :P

hmm.. happy?
