So the story is that my old graphics card got toasted so the company that does guarantee repairs for my comp changed it for a new one. And since I don't know rat's ass about graphics cards I'd like to ask which is better.

1)512MB Club3D HD4850 PCI-Exp
or
2)1GB MSI HD4850 GDDR3 PCI-Exp

Thank you in advance.

The HD 4850 is a bit old and was meant to compete with Nvidias 9800 (GTX) series.
It does a good job at that. I have no idea about the difference between the two,
but maybe an extra 512 mb RAM makes a difference...

Here's an old test of the Club3D card (in Danish, but graphs make sense in any language):

The only complaint is the cooling: temperatures are a little high,
but on the other hand it's very silent.

Thanks for the reply Adorno.

The thing is I had the Club 3D But the company changed it for the MSI one. So what I would really like to know is did I get ripped of and how bad?

Well, it is the same card, so I doubt there's too much difference between the two, which means the extra 512Mb would make the MSI card better.

That's a tricky one, but seeing as the cards are the same (same chip),
the extra 512 mb RAM probably leaves you with a (slightly) better card.

So for once I did not get ripped off, which feels awesome. Thank you everyone for your replies.

May I ask how your previous card got toasted?

It could happen again, y'know.

Probably overheated due to the crappy stock cooler.

Which might explain why they switched it for the better cooled MSI model. Did you piss off the technicians, or just give one of them a BJ?

I sent them a furious email for being sons of douche  Who would have thought that sending them a email would actually pay off

I'm not actually sure what was wrong with it. I'm gonna go and get it tomorrow so I'm fairly certain that I'll find out what was the problem.
