If normal Mount&Blade doesn't have the same problem then maybe try reinstalling CoT.

You have changed the font. Probably by you copying some graphical enhancement mod into the core game's textures. So, just reinstall the old font.dds file. Also reinstalling the font_data.xml file would help.

font.dds directory: X:\Program Files\Mount&Blade\Textures\
font_data.xml directory: X:\Program Files\Mount&Blade\Data\
