Gothic:Where to buy?

A lot of people here seem to think that Gothic would be an enjoyable game, to those who like M&B, so I have been trying to find it. The only place that I can find that sells it, is the amazon.com marketplace, but the cheapest one there is $70. On the pirahna-bytes website, they only sell Gothic II and the German version of Gothic. There seems to be a couple copies up on ebay, but one $51 and the other looks like it is in terrible condition.

Does anyone know if it is still possible to buy this game new at a reasonable price, and if so, where? Thanks a lot.

I play gothic for a multiple for reasons.

Only in GOTHIC! Can you....Stir a boiling kettle for an unlimited amount of time with an extremely large spoon!

These useless perks made me wish Gothic was playable in multiplayer. Roleplay would be *Amazing*.

It's abandonware. Most of the idiots would just leave due to the painfully unforgiving difficulty.

As previously stated. It's abandonware. Most of the idiots don't pay attention to old games anymore. They're just all the way at CS/CS:S whining about hackers, life, females and the like.
 
Well, the torrent of the underdogs download of Gothic is still up, so I guess I'll get it from there. 116 MB seems very small for a 2 disc game though...

Wow, someone needs to learn the definition of "abandonware"

The official site still sells gothic (even if it is in german), and it sure as hell ain't old enough or UNpopular enough to even be considered "abandonware".
 
Only games that should be considered abandonware are those that you can't find anywhere at all to buy, and are so old that modern systems can't run it well.

Mind however that I certainly don't agree with the idiotic 70-75 year software copyright law either. Whoever made this law was a total idiotic moron considering that a lot of software becomes really rare after mere 10 years and almost impossible to get after 20 years.

Anyway, I just pulled the Gothic demos down, partially because of the reports it got on this forum, and I'm really confused. It seems a good enough game (although the graphics are pretty weak, more a matter of the aesthetics rather than the power that they consume), but both I & II just won't close. Did anyone else have trouble killing the program? Does anyone know if this is an issue with the demo only. I don't want to buy it, if it's going to be a royal pain in the butt.

Also, the interface (especially in the 1st one) is a royal pain. Does the addition of magic make it much worse?
 
It's not hard to buy the game, it's even on amazon and no doubt ebay.

But, I don't want to buy it if it won't close. If no one had this problem with either of the demos, I must assume that it won't clear up with the actual game.
 
I dunno, Gothic is easier in comparison to Gothic 2, since you can get the Hammer on top of the cliff pretty fast, and you can jump off huge cliffs without dying. And there's nothing quite like gaining experience from smoking alot of weed >.>
